City Girl Needs A Farm Girl Wardrobe

Some of my regular blog friends may remember me talking about some of my stories of being a city girl living in the country. I thought 'layers' was a hair
style and 'nesting boxes' were pretty floral hat boxes we all had in our closets!
Wrong! lol. Well after our thunderstorms and flooding over the last few days I knew that my on-sight farm auction was going to be wet and muddy.
I told The Mister that this city girl really needed to buy a few farm girl wardrobe essentials if I was going to be working these auctions! One thing I really need are some boots. Not the leather and suede ones that I already have.
No, I need some to wear mucking about in and around the barn yard.
So this doesn't happen to my shoes!

I did make sure I wore an old pair of shoes so it wasn't too traumatic when I was standing outside in the wind and could feel my feet sinking into the ground! There was about 2 inches of water just standing in the yard!

Here's what the roads looked like on my way home. The ground is just
too saturated to absorb any more rain! Want to swim? ha. Not with the wind chills, which were in the teens today. Is this really April? Now I need to clean up my shoes and go shopping! I'm thinking Welles! Now I just need to decide what color! Actually, I'd pick the classic dark green because that's just more me. No auction pictures today. We were just TOO busy for me to get out my camera. And my hair? LOL! No pictures. Ha. As much as I love keeping it real, that's just a little too real! Let's just say I love the windswept look but this was a little overkill on that.

  1. everyone needs rubber boots!

for over 30 years i've always had a pair of llbean duck boots at hand - for mud, muck and floods. but wow what a dazzling array of colors to choose from - maybe it's time to choose fashion over form!

    quack, quack.

  20. hahaha oh your poor shoes got full of mud
To clean they will take more than one soap sud
I have one whole pair of shoes I wear everywhere
To cheap to buy another pair
They kind of stink if you get to close
But at least they'll scare away a mouse
But we get nothing like that here
As the city is more cement I fear
oh and I went back and read that post you left a link too
You get dragged out to square dance do you?
hahahahahaha oh that is so funny I'll have to use that in a post
Or maybe just a simple roast

  23. hahaha yes I do that to often I will admit
Maybe I should say it out loud but then someone might think I'm having a fit
Yes the country is a nice place to live I have to say
Maybe one day I'll go back that way
Then the cats would have alot to chase
As they sit at the window and pretend to race

  24. Betsy - what a busy farm gal you are! I love the dark green boots too - they are saying we (in Ohio) should be enjoying temps in the 70's all next week. I can hardly wait. No doubt, we are all ready for warmth! Trust you won't get sick after being out in this nasty weather today.

  25. i live in my black Hunter Wellies...i love the pink, too! or red! soooo fun. they are awesome...perfect stylish spring shoes! xo

  26. Betsy! I thought of you at that on-sight auction after this HORRID, HORRID rain! UGH.

PLEASE...use your next pay check and buy some cute Welles!

Isn't it AMAZING to see some sun today??? But, brace yourself...rain for the next FOUR days! OY!

  27. You def needs some muck boots. Just remember when you step in a area of deep mud...it can suck you boots right off! Been there, done that! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wore Crocs the other day with plastic bags over my socks. NICE LOOK. My boots from last year had a crack in them...I was desperate. I think I could use a pair of those colorful boots too!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Betsy, I was goig to say that I hope a dry spell is headed your way, but after Jill's comment...well, sorry. on the bright side, you'll get to wear your cool new Wellies! :)

    Hang in there!

  30. Being a farmgirl myself. I recommend Muck boots. I have plain rubber pairs from tractor supply (2x) & target. THEY DON'T LAST. Tractor Supply ones have lasted longer than Target. Target boot-their soles fell off within 6 month. I have a pair from Tractor Supply- they have a few holes in but they don't leak too bad. They were hot pink- now they are stained with cow manure and mud- so I don't recommend a light colored boot. Also with these cheap boots if it's cold or hot outside- your feet will be too! Mucks are nice and lined to keep feet a good temp.

  31. Thanks, Kacee! That is really good to know! I'd rather buy a pair that will last and keep my feet warm AND dry! :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Betsy- Yes, please learn from my experience. That is our next purchase for both of us (me and hubby)- A good pair of Muck boots. They aren't as cute and are fairly expensive but it's better than buying a pair every year!

  33. Too Real.....funny!
Yes you need boots, badly. Your poor wet feet!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Do your feet get all puckered up when you wear them boots?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just catching up with your posts. Wellies are so stylish these days that city girls wear them anyway, nowhere near muddy fields. But with all that rain you look like you need them! Come over here for a holiday - it's warm, sunny spring here. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Rubber boots make me happy... pretty colors, dry feet, and adventures in stomping in puddles!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yep girl you need to buy yourself a pair of Wellies pronto. But do go for a bright colour, life's too short to do boring black.
    Millie x

    ReplyDelete
  38. Millie ~ how about red? At least my coworkers could find me if it was foggy! lol...

    ReplyDelete
  39. wellies for sure ..that is ALOT of rain ...stay safe!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I can't believe it is still so chilly there! It has been climbing into the low 80s here. Spring never lasts long enough for me.

I'd probably choose a conservative color of Welles as well...but I really wish I could be a bright pink kind of girl instead.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I never knew wellies came in sooo many colours. Waht style to go with sensible? I do love your Tommy shoes though, caked mud and all.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks, Mmm ~ I love them, too, and have worn them ALL winter.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The green wellies are classic I agree but those red ones look just fab to me! You definitely need some though, looking at the first pic I thought you had white trainers on (tennis shoes on your side of the Atlantic)not proper shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  44. That would freak me out having to drive through that.

I love the boots. I say get one bright color for fun (and wear neutrals and jeans with them) and the green for when the bright color absolutely won't go with what you are wearing.
