Spencer Decorates

I did a mini makeover in my boy's room 2 weeks ago.
The pictures I posted were magazine perfect and I joked
that I would have to show you some "real" photos
when they moved in and got comfortable.
Well, over the weekend, Spencer went to town with
his stacks of train pictures that he has printed off the
Internet. They are normally in 6 stacks but he decided
to unfold them into long rows all over their bedroom floor.
Lots and lots of rows! He moved all of the furniture to higher ground so it wasn't in the way! Notice the row of suckers has come to his desk, too. :) When there wasn't enough floor space in that huge bedroom, the rows started stretching out the door and down the hallway. He's very careful not to step on them! He eventually ended up in our bedroom clear on the other end of the house! And here he goes from our bedroom down the hall, through the laundry area and second hallway to their bedroom. I let him keep it all like that for the day...except for the chairs stacked to the ceiling. lol.
Oh my. You just have to laugh!
I just love that boy!

  1. You are a fantastic mom to let him work with his pics AND to leave them like that for the day. I have no doubt that totally MADE his day :)

  2. That is hilarious! I agree with Farmchick - you are a great mom!

  3. What did his brothers think about it?

  4. Kathy ~ they loved it! Mostly because he never lets them touch the stacks. This way, with them spread out, they could walk along and look at the pictures! (just so they didn't touch..they certainly were under heavy supervision! lol)

  5. Oh my gosh I love those boys!
You must go thru a lot of ink!

  6. .. and as always, you never cease to amaze me! Both lovely you and lovely sis have the same chins.

  7. He has them so precisely taped together..the lines are perfect..I could never get them that straight without falling down on them in the hallway!

  8. Kim ~ yes, the ink is a killer! He went through a $44 ink cartridge in one day...the first day he had his new printer. I haven't bought him a new one yet. lol.

  11. Oh that is just to fun to see! Up and down the halls, and the chairs on the desk... Oh Betsy, I add my Amen to you being the best mom. God looked down and said...Yep, I can trust these special boys to this Mom..She's perfect for them.

I was at the thrift store looking for VCR's for the boys staying this weekend. They love old cartoons. I saw a video on the history of trains...and guess who I thought of????

  12. Look that cat is back twice in one day
So I haven't been to far away
    Just site crap to do
But I'll always be around to talk to you
Wow he went right to town
Yes the ink cost must make you frown
But it's great that he's happy
    And now I'm getting yappy
Didn't the rabbit want to make it go all out of place?
Or was he shooed away just in case?

  14. Oh Pat, you're very perceptive there!
    Thinking of our little hare!
Yes, he would have wanted to take a bite
But he naps in the day and plays in the night.
So little Nugget missed all the fun
While the pages down the hallway did run!

  15. Funny, funny. I love it. I love that he got to leave them out for the day.

I noticed that they seem to be organized by color or style or something. You can tell when they are all stretched out on the floor.

Were the other boys careful not to step on them? That must have been tricky getting to the bathroom!

  16. Creative is running rampant, literality.
It must of been fun to see him realize that the piles could be released, all the way across the house.
So what's next? I'm staying tuned!

  17. Kayren ~ yes, they are organized a certain way. And you can tell when he begins to run out of ink when it turns pink! :)

  18. He loves his trains !
You must spend a fortune on printer ink ;)
    Such a cool mum.

  23. Oh bless his soul, what a large amount of work he went through to line it all up so perfectly.
Does he get upset when he has to remove it again?

  25. I am sitting here giggling and wondering how you ever made it a whole day with it like this. It would have driven me nuts to have it that way.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, a man's got to do what a man's got to do! I love it!! I love that his project took over the whole house:-) What fantastic boys you have!

    ReplyDelete
  27. You are a lovely and patient mom. How cool he kept them like that for a day so that everyone can enjoy them. It makes the ink use worthwhile! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just makes me smile!! Oh that we could all have a passion that makes us that happy!

    ReplyDelete
  29. OH MY that is SOOOO funny. (His straight orderly rows appeal to me though.) Good exercise trying to negotiate the hall without touching the pictures!!!
    SO FUNNY!

  30. Love it Betsy. It says so much about you and your boys. So many nice things.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Zuzana ~ he picked them all up later that day without me interferring...nice that it didn't cause an big upset. He did it on his own terms.

  33. How wise and patient you are as a mom, Betsy. And how industrious and organised Spencer is, in his own way. I didn't realise there were so many pics of trains on the internet!

    ReplyDelete
  34. just have to laugh .. and keep the ink cartridges handy!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well at least he makes a tidy mess.Although you have the patience of a saint, then what else do you do?

    ReplyDelete
  36. How neat and methodical of him. Are there any duplicates in there or does Spencer like to have them all different?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kathleen ~ I'm sure there are a few duplicates. How could there not be? lol

    ReplyDelete
  38. I see JOY and LOVE coming out your windows, filling those halls and floors this Spring!

    ReplyDelete
  39. That is awesome of you to let him (and his brothers) Enjoy the pictures! Very cool how he layed them out... 'around' the house and back too. lol My youngest son Loved knex with the same 'passion' and had his 'creations' all over his large room, to the point you couldn't hardly step anywhere & many times the 'roller coaster' creations, etc. poured out into the hallway and the rest of the house. Like you, I'd let him keep it that way 'for the day'. :-) I so loved this post, Betsy!! It brought back my own memories. Thanks for sharing!!
    Hugs,
    Coreen xoxo

  40. I think it's great that Spencer doesn't resent that he has to pick them all up eventually. Nice little compromises for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  41. AMAZING!!!! I had know idea that his paper trains were that long. I'd hate to be sitting at a railroad crossing while one of them went by!

    ReplyDelete
  42. He was very dedicated to that project. I'm not sure I would keep focus that long. I bet he loved having them all laid out at once.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Talk about thinking out of the box - maybe he'll make you all rich one day - he certainly makes you a wonderful mom!

    ReplyDelete
  44. You missed a good trick there Betsy. You should have wallpapered the bedroom (and the ceiling) with his pictures, then he could lie in bed and look at them.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Keith ~ wallpaper? haha..but why do that when we have floor rugs? haha.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It is clearly obvious that you really do love that boy!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Still amazed by this feat. whoa. you are one patient lady as your son thoroughly gets into it. :)
