Well, for our Creative Tuesday theme of "heaven" I thought I'd do something besides my
regular black ink and colored pencil sketches. A collage sounded fun to try!
I got out a few old magazines, scissors and rubber cement.
I sketched a rough outline on a piece of printer paper and glued
scraps to the paper. It's that easy!

The holidays are filled with heavenly smells, aren't they?
Especially Thanksgiving Day, with the turkey in the oven..homemade rolls,
stuffing and pie....the house really does smell heavenly!
******
And in case you can't quite make out the food on my dinner plate,
we have mashed potatoes and sliced turkey with some gravy over both
green beans, cranberries and a crescent roll. Mmm. :)

If you'd like to join in on this theme, entries are due on Tuesday, the 23rd.
Click HERE to visit Mr. Toast's blog to sign up or see all the entries after
the due date. Now...I'm off on Tuesday to my favorite free range turkey
farm. They've reserved a little bird just for me. Driving through the
country to pick it up is one of my favorite traditions of the week!
It is a wonderful composition with great color and balance. You did a great job on this artwork. As a former art teacher I give it an A plus.

ReplyDeleteOh this is so delightful, and colorful and yes, yes, I can smell all the heavenly flavors....
ReplyDeletePlease mat and frame for your Thanksgiving decorations in the future.
I love it! I'm sure it was just so easy....yeah right!!! ha
ReplyDeleteI zoomed right in on that crescent roll.....
I'm always impressed with your drawings, but, this is very creative!!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done, Betsy. I love the colors and textures, but it's the smells and tastes that your artwork evokes that I love even more!
ReplyDeleteGreat collage Betsy. Watch out, you might find scissors and glue sticks as therapeutic as I do. I started cutting and pasting stuff during my divorce and I've never stopped. I've filled up a couple of sketchbooks and would have been working on the third...but I haven't been able to find where I put it last. I bet it's in one of the many boxes of magazine pages and paper scraps I've collected.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. Enjoy that yummy meal with your sweet family!
I'm so glad you gave this a try.. you hit this outta the ball park! I love how it's abstract, but yes I could make out what all the food was. Really good stuff! Your inspiring me to give this a try sometime!
ReplyDeleteChristie at DH ~ well, thanks...you should try it! It's fun...and different. I felt like it wasn't coming together working on it so closely but when I stepped back and looked for a distance I could see it coming together. I'm sure you, little Miss Creative, could do something awesome..and funny at the same time! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE this! Heaven on a plate :) What a fantastic collage, I love how you've used bits of the sky for the background...definitely a "heavenly" feel! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Here's mine http://thelunaticsdiary.blogspot.com/2010/11/heavenly-spectre.html
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastically creative approach. I LOVE the magazine collaging technique and am going to try that one day. Now to find something to eat - you've made me hungry!
ReplyDeleteI love this! It must have taken a lot of time. That crescent roll is genius, but I love how the whole collage comes together so beautifully. Have a "heavenly" Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteOh Betsy you stirred up a new clue in my head. I would never have thought of this. Great post.
