"Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make life so,
right in the middle of it we die, lose a leg,
fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce."

Have you tried canning using the green method yet?
This is so great! No canner needed, no pressure,
no water bath! All you do is make sure everything is
boiling hot and sterile. Put the lids on tight and turn
jars upside down. Wait 1 hour for the hot food to 'seal'
That's it!
That's how I love to do it and no one has died yet!
ReplyDeleteLove the quote!

Blondie ~ isn't it great? All those long hot days standing over a canner...can't believe I used to do that!
ReplyDeleteFirst time hearing about the green method, but it makes it seem less intimidating to give canning a try! I am in need of making pizza and apple sauce!
ReplyDeleteThat's my kind of canning......
ReplyDeleteMy first attempt at canning was a disaster.Took all season long to grow the tomatoesmy mission if I was to accept, was a dozen pint jars of tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom blew out of eight of the jars when they were in the water bath stage, the remainder I dared anyone to open, and sat them on a cupbaord shelf for nigh on twelve years, before throwing them out.
The bad part was I threw them out, and they were still sealed and edible.
Ooh, they looked so pretty.
The Ball canning jar folks, kindly sent me canning jars for almost four years in a row, turns out they were a defective batch.
Now I might try canning again, thanks to your 'green' method :)
Christie ~ pizza sauce is a great idea! I want to do salsa soon, too.
ReplyDeleteJo ~ you have to try this...so easy!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness ~~ canning made easy!
ReplyDeleteBefore plastic bottles, I had a bottle of Apple Juice break in the trunk of my car. I cleaned as best I could and it smelled like applesauce...until it started to ferment.. then my car smelled like a winery. HaHa
I will try this method!!!!
Sounds like something I should have tried with some of my exes...
ReplyDeletenever heard of this...
ReplyDeletemaybe i should try it..i love canning...but never have done it...
i am feeling an applesauce spice cake coming on soon

I grew up with a mom who canned EVERYTHING. I have canned NOTHING. Maybe I'll give it a try with this method.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've heard of this. I've got to give it a try. Salsa sounds like the perfect thing to start with.
ReplyDeleteNow that I could maybe do!
ReplyDeleteWow, canning use to be such a task, that sounds so simple! How neat is that? Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNancy
how can you even make applesauce look amazing? :) I still don;t get what the green method is though?
ReplyDeleteMmm ~ 'green' as in "Going Green"...things better for the earth and the environment. No electricity used to do the canning, like the old way of having the stove boiling water all day long.
ReplyDeletei have heard of this..though i have not tried it...
ReplyDeleteOh the things I learn from Blogger!
ReplyDeleteGadzooks, that is easy!
That is simple. The jars look great in a row!
ReplyDeleteI always do my jam this way but never have tried anything else. You can DO OTHER THINGS this way? What?
ReplyDeleteoh silly me. Of course I know what going green is. I didn't realise not using electricity though was something that would make it green. I thought it had to do with the colour of the apples. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis makes canning every so easy! I ADORE rows and rows of canned jars!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it was called "green". Am making a pepper relish that way today. Applesauce looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds super easy. My MIL used to give us jars of her canned green beans and tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteYou must have peeled a lot of apples. How do you use your applesauce? I bet the boys love it.
Stevie ~ I peeled and chopped 1 large grocery bag full of apples. Applesauce couldn't be easier...apples, sugar and water. I like it chunky, so didn't even puree or mash it up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this! I'm going to try it this year!
ReplyDeleteIt works for me too! An over-abundance of tomatoes and we make our hot tomato sauce. Keeps for ages; nothing's 'gone off' yet.
ReplyDeleteWow, never thought canning is this simple! Gotta try this!
ReplyDeleteHoly Smokes!!! I had no idea!!! Can't wait to try it!
ReplyDeletesounds GREAT, I am done canning for this year but I will look into this green method.
ReplyDeleteAll I canned this year was 5 small jars of jam and 24 jars of jalapenos
enjoy your applesauce
Wow, that is easy! I may just have to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI have never canned anything. Just seemed overwhelming, but this I will try!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this, we have a ton of apple tree's so I am excited to see how they turn out. Thanks for the tip.
