Progressive Insurance commercials!
Flo is played by actress and comedienne Stephanie Courtney, and has been cited in news articles as having a sizable fan base on social networks like Facebook.
Her character has appeared in commercials since the concept's 2008 debut. Flo is recognized by her extremely enthusiastic persona! And who can forget her heavy Rockabilly-style makeup, and retro hairstyle? In October 2009, the Boston Herald referred to Flo as "the commercial break’s new sweetheart," and said that Courtney was "attaining TV ad icon status." Flo has also become a new favorite Halloween costume. A Facebook page called "Flo the Progressive Girl" has garnered well over 500,000 fans! There are multiple websites dedicated to her, and she is popular on Twitter and various Internet forums.
And, in case you've never seen a Progressive Insurance commercial

ReplyDeleteLissa ~ I guess she is extremely popular! When I was searching for her picture I found many with her doing promo things...such as throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game, etc...all in her Flo outfit and makeup. :)
ReplyDeletewow... I didn't know who she was. Just thought she was pretty enough to be a Miss America! :) The Bach.
ReplyDeleteBach ~ you always did have a thing for that contest! ha.
ReplyDeletenice to meet Flo

I have seen this girl on commercials constantly --yet I wouldn't have recognized her from that first picture (the one you showed in the previous post)... She's gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Wow...some poofy hair, red lipstick... and I didn't have a clue it was Flo. I love Flo, I guess you could call me a fan!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post...I think she may eclipse the gecko if she keeps this up! Go Flo..Go Flo...Go Flo....Yeah!
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely in her "normal" look! My kids get such a kick out of her commercials.
ReplyDeletewell of course.....plain as day who it is/ha
ReplyDeleteFirelight ~ I think you're right...the gecko is cute, but Flo is cuter! :)
ReplyDeletethat is crazy...I would've never guessed Flo!!! Wow!
ReplyDeleteThis competition is unfair to those of us who do not live in the USA. I want a discount.
ReplyDeleteGood, so I was excused for not knowing.;)
ReplyDeleteBut I could see from the comments that many got it right.;) This was fun,
xo
I do like Flo and her happy-positive commercials.
ReplyDeletebut we very happy with USAA as our insurance company and even sweet Flo won't persuade us to change.
I really like the GEICO gecko too.
Rhonda ~ I wasn't trying to promote Progressive...I don't even use it myself. This was all in fun.
ReplyDeleteSorry Alan! LOL! The video clip was just for you then. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Betsy I had missed your post asking about her, but I love this. She is cute as a button and I would not have guessed her. A really fun post.
ReplyDeleteQMM
That was funny. I have seen her a few times, but have never recognized.
ReplyDeleteflo is fun. don't you just love the word quirky!
ReplyDeleteKimy ~ LOL!...yes, I have a dear friend that I call 'cute and quirky' :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were talking about her the other day and wondering if she got recognized out in public. I did't recognize her from the pic. That was fun Betsy.
ReplyDeleteValerie ~ I'm not so sure people would recognize her as her normal self. But as Flo, she certainly has the fans! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what a little RED lipstick will do!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it's Jungle Red?
Christine ~ it's "Progressive Red"!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHm. Never a big fan of those commercials. Several years back, however, I had minor "celebrity crushes" gleaned from Rebecca Gayheart's Noxema comercials, and Ines Sastra's Maybelline ads... but that's just me.
ReplyDeleteSilver Fox ~ maybe it's a girl thing...The Mister thinks those commercials are obnoxious. Ha.
ReplyDeleteWow, was that his exact word? Ouch! The last time I felt that strongly about a series of commercials, it was the early 1990s' Mentos series!
ReplyDeleteOops. Ines Sastre's early 1990s ad was for Max Factor, not Maybelline.
ReplyDeleteyes, his exact word...but he thinks most commercials are obnoxious....especially the Broadman Home Security ones :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE Flo! :D
ReplyDelete"like this cool tricked out name tag" Hee
she looks so different in real life--better. Very attractive indeed.
