Jill ~ they are all over the eastern half of the US...almost as if a dividing line was drawn right down the center from north to south. I just haven't seen any in our yard before. Maybe I don't have their favorite seed/fruit out.
Actually, red is a nice color, but I'm more of a "blue boy" in that all my clothes are in some shade of blue. (Tho, I DO have a bright red jacket that sets off my blue jeans nicely.) Great post, and a nice salute to red!
Wow, that little bird is sure pretty! We never see birds here with any bright colors. A blue jay is aobut as exciting as it gets, everything else is black or brown. Hugs, Dawn
@Betsy: How'd you know that was Skip signed in as "Simpson/Lynch Studios?" Was it knowing that I almost always dress in black? Or are people starting to forget there are two names in Simpson/Lynch? Gotta love it when I -- or Skip and I -- bend over backwards writing a script, and we get "Great job, Skip!" in the comments. ;-)
Mr Fox. Actually, I went by the style of writing. You write and spell very accurately and grammatically correct. Skip is a bit more laid back in that way. Sorry, Skip. :)
So, I was correct...it was Skip on the Simpson/Lynch comment? And if all else fails, sitemeters are a big help. Well, that and the fact that I knew you were partial to black...I mean this cape here is black, right? ha.
Usually, I take it with enough milk so I can drink it quickly, and I either use one Splenda or no sweetener at all. Sometimes, I drink it "black as midnight on a moonless night." (And you'll impress the heck out of me if you know where that quote is from!)
"Twin Peaks" it is. You never cease to impress! Nice to see you keep knowledgeable about all the David Lynches out there, whether there's an "M" for a middle initial, or not.
And thanks for the coffee, although on sick days like today, I often drink tea.
Beautiful pictures Betsy and very informative too about the different shades of red. Thank you for visiting ariel. I'm from India which is a treasureland of mythological stories. Sometimes the stories that I've read in my childhood pop up and I write them down. I know, this was a sad one.
I love this post! Red is such a powerful color. I love brick and cinammon. Such pretty reds.Tomorrow is Red Dress Day. I have heart disease and we need to be aware that it's not just a man's disease. Red lips and red nails....beauty.
Nanatrish~ I read on someone else's blog today about wearing red tomorrow to support a cure for woman's heart disease! I'll wear my red shirt for you ..and others! :)
I am loving all these reds, but my favorite is the little red birdy. It would be wonderful to see one in our state, but the Pidegons seem to rule our roost, although we do get a lot of Hummingbirds.
Ah! A little scarlet tanager! I've always wanted to see one of those.
ReplyDeleteNicely done, Betsy!
Kat
Nice visual on RED.. Happy Theme Thursday.. !!
ReplyDeleteKat ~ good for you knowing it's name! We don't have them here either, unfortunately! They would be beautiful against the snow!
ReplyDeleteRED is my FAVORITE COLOR!
ReplyDeleteI really love the bird...so pretty.
Kat calls it a Scarlet Tanager...darling. Wonder where they live?

ReplyDeleteAwww...you just need more coffee...hey..it's black, too! Here, let me pour you a cup. Do you take cream or sugar?
ReplyDeleteUsually, I take it with enough milk so I can drink it quickly, and I either use one Splenda or no sweetener at all. Sometimes, I drink it "black as midnight on a moonless night." (And you'll impress the heck out of me if you know where that quote is from!)
ReplyDeleteWell, that would be from Twin Peaks, right? See...I really AM a fan! OK...one cup...lots of milk and a sprinkle of Splenda coming up. :)
ReplyDelete"Twin Peaks" it is. You never cease to impress! Nice to see you keep knowledgeable about all the David Lynches out there, whether there's an "M" for a middle initial, or not.

I figured Vivien Leigh would make the list before Marilyn would. Heh.
