Pastry Swans

I usually serve these yummy swans some time during
the holidays. They look beautiful on a dessert buffet!
As impressive as they look, they are very easy to make.
If you are sick of sweets or starting a diet, tuck the
thought away for Valentine's Day. :)
Any recipe for Pate a Choux will work (pastry for cream puffs).
Fill pastry bag with dough and
pipe swan necks and oval cream puffs for bodies
onto cookie sheet and bake as directed.
These are usually served with ice cream inside, but we
prefer a rich mixture of cream cheese, powdered sugar,
cool whip and vanilla.
(No worries with melting ice cream that way.)
Cut off the top of the pastries and
then halve the tops to make wings.
After assembling, drizzle with chocolate.
Chill until ready to serve.

  1. You are amazing. The cooking is amazing, but that is not all. I know I only get to see your blog posts, but you seem to handle life with such grace. You are an inspiration to me as I raise my kids.

  18. Just lovely.

I thought about doing these for my "Seventh Day of Christmas" post, but in the end I decided I didn't want to dirty any dishes :-)

  19. Kathy G ~ oh yes, 7 Swans a-swimming. It would be fun to plan out the 12 Days of Christmas on a buffet table. I wonder if it could be done? A partridge, though...hmmmm....maybe the pears would be easier! ha. Now I'm curious if I could think of all twelve. How fun!

  27. The Skipster and the Foxster couldn't resist the similarities in name and appearance between "Foxster" and "[Robert] Foxworth!" And wait until you (and others) hear the new "Pleasantview" theme song...

  28. Well, to paraphrase what one of the Peanuts characters once said (in reference to Snoopy), it is difficult to blush through a faceful of hair...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, at least I now know how to make it happen! LOL!

New theme song? Can't wait! :)

  30. "Pipe swan necks"--what are those? Is pip a verb her or a noun and you can buy them like this? It looks amazing Betsy. Again, marveling at your creative gourmet talents. :)

  32. Seriously? You have got to be kidding me! Never (and I never say never) in a million years do I think (there is my qualification) I would ever try that.

Beautiful doesn't even give them justice.

  33. this is so beautiful it makes me want to cry. How do you have the patience. I see 43 other people agree with me.

I think you are a really wonderful person and not because you made great desserts. Happy New Year.
