part about cooking all that food yesterday is that
today, there is NO cooking (and maybe tomorrow!)
The Mister had his favorite turkey, dressing and cranberry
sandwich last night. The first of many this weekend, I'm sure.
We'll probably have something Italian by Sunday.
Lasagna or spaghetti always tastes especially nice
after all the traditional Thanksgiving fare.
So, are you out with the crowds today doing some shopping?
Not me...I prefer to sleep in (til 10:00!!!) and have pecan
pie for breakfast! LOL!
happy leftover turkey sandwich day! lol. hope you and your family had a great day yesterday. and no i did not go out in the chaos today!
ReplyDeleteWe had a big crowd for Thanksgiving yesterday, so I'm pooped! But some special memories were made so it was all worth it. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. (The sandwich is making me hungry!) I prefer on-line shopping this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI was out this morning and it was crazy (or maybe it was me that was crazy). Your sandwich looks good!
ReplyDeleteJanelle ~ with all the free shipping offers, it's crazy NOT to shop online! I'm pooped, too, btw!
ReplyDeleteMari ~ yes, you were crazy...but you made it home in one piece! ha!
ReplyDeleteI had pumpkin pie for breakfast...and I might have pecan for supper. I made myself a plate of leftovers yesterday. That's what I had for lunch today. I'm at work, so no shopping for me.
ReplyDeleteShopping? I'd rather be drawn and quartered. ;o)
ReplyDeleteUs bloggers must be the smart ones! We all stay away from the Black Friday crap! That sandwich looked phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we will have "Pilgrim" sandwiches for lunch, and I had a large slice of Apple Pie with a big dab of butter for breakfast, after sleeping in....
ReplyDeleteShopping...NO WAY.... not today.
The Mister's sandwich looks so good..... can't wait till lunch.
LOL:Wanda
I'm with you, no shopping... please pass the pie!
ReplyDeleteI'm cracking up that all of us ladies are having pie for breakfast!
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ I'll tell The Mister that those are called Pilgrim sandwiches!
Slept in until 10:00 also, and had coconut meringue pie for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteNo, don't do any shopping, although I am going to CVS to get some bargains in a minute. We have to go out anyway to get Sparky her passport process started. She is going to Togo, West Africa, in February. Um, surprise!
Oh, and I am baking one thing today. The way things lined up I am making my sourdough bread today. Six loaves. So super easy it doesn't count though.
ReplyDeleteThe sandwich doesn't look so good to this food-in-my-food cringing girl.
Kayren ~ coconut meringue pie? Oh, that sounds scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteTogo? Wow...what an experience! You'll have to fill us in on all the details.
I would have guessed you couldn't do the pilgrim sandwich. ha!
Do I smell bread? mmmmmm.
I didn't have to cook the big Thanksgiving dinner--just jello salad and pies--so I cooked a French Dip in the crockpot Tuesday, sliced it on Wednesday and put it, along with the juice, in the refrigerator. Had some of it for lunch. SO GOOD! We'll have the Thanksgiving leftovers the SIL sent with us for dinner tonight.
ReplyDeleteKathy G ~ that french dip sounds delish...you should share the recipe!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a sweet sil to send leftovers home with you! I did that for my bil, too....you can't send them home empty handed and the frig just bulging! ha!
haha I just said the same thing about not cooking for 2 days also! Ahh the little things make me happy. Also that sandwich looks amazing. I think that's what I'll be having tonight too...with a side of pumpkin pie (okay and some birthday cake...)
ReplyDeleteI battled the crowds and have the sore feet and empty wallet to prove it.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow will be the day for leftovers.
I stayed home like always. Sleeping in is a rarity now days.
ReplyDeleteWe have only a few leftovers. Twenty-two people eat up a lot of food.
Martha ~ 22 is a lot of people! We had a small gathering this year...quiet, easy and yes, lots of leftovers! Sleeping in for once does feel great, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI decided to eat in at "Cafe Swanson" this year. Hey! "Over one pound of food!!!"
ReplyDeleteSkip ~ hey, whatever works, right? How's that ankle doing?
ReplyDeleteYou have the right idea, sleeping in and pie for breakfast. Happy day after.
ReplyDeleteYay for leftovers! Hubby's sandwich looks better than our whole meal did. I just love your photography!
ReplyDeleteI did sneak out to a new CVS store out on the edge of town to buy the
"Santa Buddies" movie but there was no way I was going near the major shopping centers!
My daughter is so into the holidays we started watching Christmas movies in September. I hear Santa is running late this year. I hope "he" gets his gifts "made" before it's too late!
Happy Thanksgivng
Dawn
Well, yes, the Mister definitely has good tastes. ..That looks like an incredible sandwich. Mmm...
ReplyDeleteAlthough we don't celebrate Thanksgiving Down Under Betsy, I hope yours was a wonderfully joyous gathering of all your precious ones. I love Festive leftovers, it means I don't hear those dreaded words 'What's for lunch?' for a precious few days. The kids & MOTH know with all that food in the refrigerator, uttering those words would earn them the infamous Millie Stare of Death & turn them into pillars of stone instantly!
ReplyDeleteM ^_^
sleep, all I want is my blankey
ReplyDeleteWell, add me among the pie for breakfast camp:)
ReplyDeleteYum...This sandwich had my mouth watering...I must confess that I had my last turkey sandwich for lunch today and am quite ready for something very different...A bit -turkied out...at least until my mother makes one for Christmas Dinner...
Sounds like you had a very nice celebration:)
Ha ha. We did have Italian today- Sunday! That's so funny! Great looking sandwich too!
