Spider Man?

Look at this gigantic 8 foot tall spider web!
The Mister found it in our front yard this morning.
No, I didn't go look for the spider!
I don't even want to know how big he was! LOL!

  1. Hmmmmm, is that the work of one of those big, brown wolf spiders?? ICK!
Or, I would prefer to think it is Charlotte...tomorrow look and see if it says, "Some pig."

  3. Jill ~ Ick is right! I don't know what it was, bu it must be huge! Maybe if I'm brave tomorrow, I'll go take a look...or better yet...send The Mister out there... (with something to protect himself! LOL!!)

  4. Mari ~ he had to use a flash on it...the first picture didn't show it at all. It was all full of dew or the flash probably wouldn't have helped.

  5. Wow, that is one huge spider web !
I'd say it is a garden spider. Love the way the dew shimmers on the web.
    Send The Mister.

  9. Oh Jill already said my line! Lol. Well now we know how the little spider got into your water glass, they were all having a party outside! Call pest control to have them do a courtesy look at the web for ya and they can probably tell you what you've got on your property.

  17. Fabulous photo. My luck I would have walked right into it. At least it was outside!

  18. Another example of God giving a creature as small as a spider the ability to make something so cool. As long as I know a spider isn't poisonous I'm okay with them. They are kind of interesting actually. Now rats....that's a totally different subject. I love how some of the leaves are turning. I guess it will be a while longer for us down here in the deep south.

  19. oh wow. thats huge. i was out with one of my clients yesterday and there was a long stand of spider web, like 20 feet long. it became his kite for a few minutes. i don't know if i want to run into your spider any time soon!

  22. I've mentioned being an arachnophobe.

I've also mentioned that you have a current icky spider fetish.

So anyway, what's worse is when you almost walk into one of these on the way to your car while you're cutting through your yard. Or when you're taking the sidewalk and they made it from the large overhanging tree.

Usually the spiders are in there pretty visibly. Not knowing where it was would have totally creeped me out, because then I'd wonder where it was. One time Hubby took out my candle lighter and a can of hair spray to torch one. The spider fell when the web immediately dissolved. The whole point was to kill the spider.

I know you probably have readers that won't kill them and are thinking that since it was outside anyway it should have been left alone, but just let me reiterate...ARACHNOPHOBE!

  23. Great picture! Web is beautiful! Don't want to see the spider either........

  24. This is the most amazing photo of a spider web that I have seen. Are you sure you don't have a prehistoric spider lurking in that tree? One that could catch a small dinosaur?

  25. Betsy - I'm spider (hater) phobic, so I keep thinking about the myths you "busted" about spiders a while back. Have been cleaning, and must say that I can't believe that spiders DON'T come into the house for winter! I believe that they are all coming into MY house for the fall season!

    ugh

  26. You are kidding me. I'm just glad you didn't run into it accidentally!

  27. Lynne ~ ha-ha....you are right...large and prehistoric...is seems like the spider should be that big! I think I'm glad I didn't see it!

  28. Kayren ~ I know...I've posted about spiders three times in one week! What's up with that? I hate spiders! Why are they in my drinking glasses and spinning man-sized webs in my trees? Creepy!

  30. Nasty! Eww. I feel bad for that spider too-- a lifetime's worth of work gone in one foul swoop! i'm sure the Mister didn't keep it up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mmm ~ actually The Mister didn't touch it. I should go out and see if it's still there! But we've had wind and rain, so it's probably gone. Amazing while it lasted, though!

  32. OH MY GOSH! Hope this is not the same one sitting on your water glass at night!
