traumatic as it could be. He's going to live at home and
attend our alma mater, which is right here in town.
So, I get to be mom for a little while longer....which
is just fine with me. This boy has been nothing but
pure joy. Writing that first check on the other hand...
was a little painful! LOL!
"To love what you do and feel that it matters ~
how could anything be more fun?"
Katherine Graham
Yes - he's a good looking guy! We have a State University in our town also and it's where our oldest went. She also stayed at home and it is easier that way!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to him as he starts something new!
He is a handsome guy, Betsy. Hard to look at your picture and imagine you're old enough to have a son going to college.
ReplyDeleteKayren ~ oh, I was a baby myself when I had him...NOT! LOL! But thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I remember my first weekend at college~so fun! And yes, he is very handsome~the girls will love him:)
ReplyDeletehe will do so well and you should be so very proud of this next step in his life...it flys by at lightning speed!
ReplyDeleteThe handsome college guy was so cute in the picture. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteYour boy is indeed handsome, I completely understand how proud you are. And it must be so great that he can still continue living at home.;))
ReplyDeleteWish him the best of luck, although I am sure he won't need it. Ours is about to start his second year and he is only thirty or so miles away so we see him very often.
ReplyDeleteYour son is a nice boy. Well done, Betsy and congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHe will soar... and you'll have a front row seat! I'm so happy for you that he's staying close to home.
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute! Does he still have that same girlfriend? He seems like such a good boy and I know you must be so proud of him. This will be a big step in his life. They grow up so fast. I am trying to enjoy every minute with Avery. She will be going in 4th grade and I can remember rocking her as a newborn like it was yesterday. Her mommy too. Wow, I'm OLD, but still fat and sassy.
ReplyDeleteWell, of course he's handsome, look at his beautiful mother!...I would imagine he will turn quite a few heads on campus...
ReplyDelete...best of luck to him as he embarks on such an exciting time in his young life.
Trish ~ no, sadly the girlfriend didn't last...so he's available! ;)
ReplyDeleteVery handsome. Hope all goes well for him. And glad its not to traumatic for you :)
ReplyDeleteYes, he is very handsome!
ReplyDeleteI hope his school year is happy for him and goes smoothly.
about tbose checks, be prepared to write them bigger every year too, ouch!
our 2 youngest got their degrees at the univesity in our town too.
Heh, heh not quite ready to leave the nest...just yet. Good that he's going to your alma mater and doesn't have to travel far awy, yes. A friend of mine's daughter decided on local a college, as well and stayed home. And tho' writing that first cheque may have sprained you wrist( so to speak ), imagine the savings for not paying for dorms and the like. Any scholarship monies?
ReplyDeletesubtorp ~ yes, he did get some scholarships...which was a good thing!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, kudos for him! My sister had one for just under $40k but lost it out due to low scores( I don't think she ever got over that ). myself, I never attended any college( opting to dive right in to the military ). I would ahve liked to have had a major in either history or English. Best of luck to your eldest and hope he settles in okay :)
ReplyDeleteHe has grown up into such a handsome young man. Don't you miss those little cream puff cheeks? Awwwww.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome young man!
ReplyDeleteTell him "Good Luck" with this new chapter!!!!
oh he is adorable...so happy for you that he is staying close by!!!
ReplyDeleteVery. Watch out world! :)
ReplyDeleteWell it's nice you are able to help him out. I hope he relaise jsut how blessed he is to have parents liek oyu. He has a lot on his shoulders too which I'm sure he is well aware of.
Enjoy being a mom to him on a regular basis that much longer.
At 19, going on 20 I was 7000 miles away so count each day as joy that you have him.
time does pass quickly doesn't it? I am thankful for you he is going to a college right there in town and can stay home a little longer!
ReplyDeleteThere is something about mothers and sons! Daughters are a delight, but a son...~sigh~
ReplyDeleteYou have captured your love for him very well.
(Love the date on the first picture.)
The girls will be gaga! Taylor will be the most sought after freshman on campus.
ReplyDeleteAs to the point of attending college while living at home, I may be a bit overprotective of my chicks, but I think it is better for children today to be a little bit older before they are on their own. I wanted my children to be independent, but where I could still know if they needed advice.
Love the Katherine Graham quote. That is how I feel about being a mother.
Oh, yes indeed! The girls WILL flip - he's a charmer, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing - lived at home and went to university in town. No regrets.
Kat
WATCH OUT CAMPUS!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewow. they grow up fast. my first year was the toughest so it may be good he is at home to get the extra support. good news, you only have to write those checks for another 3-5 years...lol.
ReplyDeleteIndeed he is.
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable litte man has grown up to become a handsome man.
ReplyDeleteHow could you possibly let him leave home?? never, I say!
Lucky You - he's going to school locally!
ReplyDeleteYes he is so very handsome!! I am blessed like you with a son who's going to be staying at home and going to school his first year.
