Sweet Violets

My violet patch has bloomed! It has also spread into my other flower beds over the winter and there are pretty patches of violet sprinkled everywhere! Did you know that in India, sweet violets are used to cure sore throats and tonsilitis? Who knew! So, Marie at Vintage Postcards, the prettiness is for you! And Granolachic at So What Can He Eat, the remedy is for your strep throat! Enjoy and feel better, girls!

  1. Wow, those are gorgeous. Down here we grow violets in pots; I'm not used to seeing them in patches, methinks I like them!

  2. They are very pretty, and I'm not usually a purple girl. I usually only see them in pots, too. I like them this way.

Well, no flowers here on my home front, but there are a few trees with a little bit of bud popping color out...key word being little. We're still mostly gray here...soon though, soon...I know it!

  3. I love violets.;)) I love everything about them; the way the flowers are shaped, the scent and the colour. And I did not know they have such benefits as well. What a lovely patch in your garden, I must say.;)))

  7. Oh those are beautiful sweet violets!

Speaking of your strawberries, we used to have a wild strawberry patch along the side of our home in OH that our little Boston Terrier used to love to lie in. He'd lounge and nibble and lounge and nibble all day. He'd come in every evening with his white tummy stained red from nesting in those strawberries. :)

  11. These are so beautiful, Betsy!! Before I got married and still lived at home, we had a large patch of wild violets. We had transplanted just a few plants out of my grandpa's woods and within a few short years they were just everywhere! I love their heart-shaped leaves.
