Wishing

If wishes were horses,
Beggars would ride;
If wishes were fishes,
We'd all cast our lines.
~~Scottish proverb
"Star Light, Star Bright First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might Have the wish I wish tonight."

"When you wish upon a star....doesn't matter who you are..." "Sending good wishes to others acts like sunlight, filtering into the dark corners of their mind and lightening their burden." ~Innerspace "Dreams are wishes your heart makes!" ~~Abigail Van Buren "If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never!"

~~Soren Kierkegaard

“Wishing is good for us.
Daydreams, fantasies, castles in the air,
and aspirations all drive us forward,
impel us to make things happen.
They also tell us a lot about ourselves.
Our wishes come straight from our core,
and they are loaded with vital in."

  1. Wishes! Great idea for a post. I think Dear Abby got her line from Cinderella. Remember that line in the song, "A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you're fast asleep..."

  6. This post doesn't go along with the theme of wishes. I've been a reader for awhile but never posted until now.
I admire what seems to be your "quiet strength". My perception of you is one of warmth and kindness to your family always.
My experience in this life is different than yours, but yet, I'm sure they could be intertwined somewhere down the line.
We lost our son, Joshua in a car accident at the age of 16. That was November 15, 2003. Words will never describe the depth of our pain. Then and now. Joshua, like Taylor, played basketball. He played the point. His passion was basketball. He was active in our youth group at church and was very kind to everyone. Children and older people alike. When he passed away one of the comments that I remember hearing over and over was how they would miss his smile.

All things aren't so bad...we're expecting our first grandchild anyday now!
And I have Justin still at home with us.
When I talk about Joshua, especially to someone new, I tend to paint a very blue picture. We are picking up the peices, they just don't go back in the same position anymore.
    Thanks for blogging.

  8. Hi Cindy! Thanks for leaving a comment! I'm so sorry about your son, Joshua. I can't imagine the loss and feelings you must be experiencing.

I'm not sure what you mean be "the theme of wishes", however. I think we all have dreams, wishes, and aspirations. They may not all come true, and life is full of ups and downs,...thrills and terrible pain. But I do like the quotes that remind us that sending good wishes can brighten another's day and having our own wishes and dreams can inspire and motivate us.

When we experience a terrible loss in our lives, whether it's the death of a child or the loss of a 'normal' child to the grips of autism, I think we have two choices. We can become bitter toward God for not sparing us the pain or we can admit that we need him all the more and that we need his care and direction more than ever.

We are never promised that life will be easy and we are never promised that all of our wishes will come true. But we do have a promise that someday we will see the reasons and purposes of all that we have experienced. It really isn't about us at all. It's about God. Some day we will know the answers. We just need to trust and have faith that God knows best.

Big hugs to you! I hope you will come back and comment again!

  9. I grabbed a moment earlier today while at work and read your post. It lifted my spirit and made me smile. You have a gift for writing heartwarming blog entries. The images you picked were great too.

In fact while I am totally into this Betsy blog love fest, let me just add that I love the way you re-did your sidebar too!

  10. Hi Betsy,
thanks for checking on me. I am much better. You won't believe this but I had to have the other side worked on too, Monday I had a crown put on the other side. Dentists are not my favorite place to go right now. :) I hope you and the boys are all doing well. Talk with you soon. Ronda

  12. I can't tell you the number of chicken breast bone I got the short end of. Then I learned how to do it and got the big ends. But, of course, it was cheating.

    Interesting post. Stunning photographs.
