Indiana Melon

What is it about Indiana Melons that make them so delicious?
There is a vast difference between a regular cantelope and an
Indiana one! They hardly taste like the same fruit!
How do those Hoosiers do it?
I was born there and I don't even know the answer!

  1. I'm not sure I've ever had an Indiana Melon?! How can you tell the difference by looking at them? Are they stamped "Indiana"?

  2. I've never heard of an Indiana melon. If they're that good I might just learn to love cantelope.

    Your new header is beautiful!

  3. Hi Betsy, I found your blog the other day and bookmarked it because of your triplets. What an outstanding Christian mother you are! Even though my children are grown, I still enjoy reading about the experiences you younger mothers have with the challenges that are before you.

Not only that, we are from Beavercreek so I like to connect with folks from back home. We now live in Lancaster County, PA. Our sons did attend Cedarville for a semester when we lived in the area.

I love the look of your blog! How do you get the frames around your pictures? It all looks so neat!

    Blessings to you,
    Cheryl

  5. Pat ~ I added a picture of what they look like. Just like any cantelope but they have the deep ridges. Our grocery labels them "Indiana Melons" and you see them at farmer's markets and roadside stands marked that way.

  12. I'm a Hoosier too, but sadly, I don't like even Indiana canteloupe. Of course my intro to them was one time when I was asleep and my step-dad said "Wake up, try this!" and shoved a bite in to my sleepy mouth. I ran and spit it out and haven't liked them since! But everyone thinks I'm crazy, so they must be good. They certainly LOOK beautiful!

  18. Since I was born in Indiana and lived there until I was almost 15 I can say for sure that the food in Indiana is better. Call it the pride of home food, but to me it just tastes so much better!

    1. Do you have a Sams Club near you? I bought a "Honey Kiss" melon from there that is just as good and maybe even better than an Indiana melon! There were several....Lemon Kiss, and one other, so make sure you get the Honey Kiss. It was amazing!
