Happy Labor Day

Labor Day is a really big deal in our little village! The Father of Labor Day, US Senator James Kyle was born here! We have a three day festival, parade, and fireworks!
JAMES HENDERSON KYLE (1854-1902) of Ohio USA, was an educator, civil engineer, clergyman and a US Senator. The Father of Labor Day - notable and salutary congressional act proposed and accomplished by Senator Kyle, the designation of Labor Day and making it a national holiday.
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
So enjoy your day...rest from your labor....and say good bye to summer!

  9. Thanks for the history lesson, none of which I knew. I am enjoying my Labour Day as much as I can, given that I *still* don't have my tastebuds back. It's reminding me how much good-tasting food contributes to the enjoyment of life. Without it, a serious case of the "blands" sets in...
