No, I sang it to him! He's the bright yellow one. Get it? haha. Although, I have been called Sunshine before! And he's a gold finch. A male. The males in most birds are the bright ones and the females have more muted colors. It helps them stay hidden while sitting on nests. I guess the males have to be flashy to catch the ladies. :)
Oh! It's a Godfinch! Thanks! No need to answer just yet Betsy, have another cake!
And Martha . . . . you are soooo kind! ROFL
Seriously, we have Goldfinches here in UK but they don't look like that but there again your Robins are gargantuan compared to ours. They must make 'em bigger and better in the States! LOL
Oh Betsy....that is the song that we have sung to Miss V since day one♥️ It brought a tear to me eye... Love the Finches! At least yours is awake!!! Enjoy your evening...crazy weather here! Cheers! Linda :o)
If that isn't Spring in Capital Letters....and when I get a song in my head....it stays... So I will be singing this all day. BTW ~ You are "sunshine" to us bloggers...Love you.
He would have to make anyone cheery!!! How could you not smile to see such a lovely little bird!!!! I hope that he brings you lots of sunshine this week! xx
Cheerful little bird. We get a lot of gold finches enjoying our bird bath in the summer. Haven't seen any yet this year. Could use some brightness today... cloudy and rain here.
Betsy, your posts always make me smile. Especially nice to see American birds like this smart male American Goldfinch - obviously we don't see too many of those in the UK! Thank you.
Oh, mine move fast, too! But I usually anticipate them before they land at the feeder. So, if I see one fly to the tree, I focus on the feeder even before the bird arrives. Then in a second or two they are there and I'm all ready for them! :)
Oh, I'll get her eventually. She was on the other side of the feeder. And I bought them a cute little feeder while I was out today...I think I'll fill it with their favorite thistle seed. :)
not sure if you can see this; if not I will send in an e-mail... such a pretty picture of my friend's pansies trying to peek out... https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1.0-9/954776_645154868886933_5875989885621672646_n.jpg
Hi Betsy - the Bruhl part of the poster/painting is on a Museum card I have pinned up .. and is at the start of the book I used to read to my mother - stories from the Cornish Riviera ... so I do get to see it all the time - lucky me! Stunning Cornish typical scenery .. to a point! But I love it .. cheers and thanks for the comment on the blog - Hilary

DeleteHe is so cheery - what a sunny treat on a wintry day.
ReplyDeleteExactly! He was SO bright and beautiful!
DeleteYour photography classes are paying off.
ReplyDeleteMy question for you is how do get them to stay still?
The birds around here are so flighty.
Oh, mine move fast, too! But I usually anticipate them before they land at the feeder. So, if I see one fly to the tree, I focus on the feeder even before the bird arrives. Then in a second or two they are there and I'm all ready for them! :)
DeleteRe: your sidebar, you probably are the only one enjoying the snow. Ha.

DeleteSo, you like my little sunshine friend?
Yeah. Too bad his lady friend is camera shy.
