I have a yucky cold and planted myself on the sofa
today and got lost in Pinterest again. :)
I love this nest in a basket that I saw there.
I often have a bird make a nest in my hanging flower baskets
so why not just hang out a basket for them?
If I hung it on the back porch it would be easy to
see and too high for the cats.
I could even put some nest making start stuff inside.
It would kind of be like a house warming gift. ha.
♥
And we all know we could use a warm house in this weather!
ReplyDeleteOh, look! I'm first again.
Delete:0)
yes, you're first! :)
DeleteI haven't seen any birds trying to make a nest yet...I hope they have the sense to wait a while!
Good idea!
ReplyDeleteFeel better - I'm afraid that cold is trying to catch me too. :(
Run...run very fast! haha....hope it doesn't catch you!
DeleteOh, that's adorable, Betsy. What a great idea. I keep all my ends from knitting and have them in a bag to put outside for nesting material for our birds. They are short pieces about two inches long and it will make their nests really colourful. :) Deb
ReplyDeleteWell, that's fun! A rainbow nest! :) Have you ever seen any of your yarn pieces in a nest?
DeleteIf this works and I get a family in there, I'll be sure and post photos!
Just once. A starling with an all-earth coloured nest and just a pop of red. It made my day. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, how very fun! I wonder if she liked red and chose it for that. :)
DeleteAt first I thought you had some Doves and maybe a Dovecot. Doves in a hanging basket look great but make sure they don't dive bomb you lol..
ReplyDeleteHope your cold gets better soon. Some really dry, warm weather would be just what the doctor ordered.
I'll be sure and tell the cats...they will be the ones sitting under it, I am sure! haha.
DeleteWhen Gloria turns up I wonder if you could let her have this website address and ask her to play the first tune - just for her:

LOL
Oh, I'm sure she won't miss a word you wrote here! haha.
DeleteDo you think so? lol
DeleteShe doesn't miss much. :)
DeleteOK Gloria, Betsy thinks you won't miss this:
DeleteYou have a very lovely eye!
But do you by any chance have another one so I can compare them? And are they in colour? lol
haha! Are you really asking if she is a cyclops? You have me curious now. I'm going to the link....
DeleteOh, yours is nice! I always think of this one...

Love it!!! Much more effective thn mine. GLORIA, watch this one instead!!! LOL
DeleteI know it too!! Always liked it. Is there a Betsy song?
No, Gloria has all the good ones. haha.
DeleteShame but at least I know you have two eyes!! LOL
DeleteWell, that's true! haha. I don't think she has feet either, though. She won't join in my blog pedicure parties! lol....
DeleteFunny Girl!!
DeleteI bet her ears are burning!! LOL
I wonder if she'll still think I'm funny and sweet! LOL
Well, we will know soon enough! haha.
DeleteProbably see in the morning. Turning in and Bon Nuit
Deletesweet dreams!
DeleteSo sorry that cold caught you.. Take it easy and rest... The basket of doves is just precious. I like the idea of hanging a basket an adding a little nesting material to get them started.
ReplyDeleteI do, too! They will be safer and I can see them better than if they were deep in the tree branches or inside my flowering plant! I have just the basket in mind, too!
DeleteFeel better soon - you need a nest like this to recuperate. This is so pretty and, to me, has hints of winter and spring both. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHi Suza - hope you had a great w/e
DeleteHi Eddie - it's been a nice, lazy weekend. I am about to head out for a walk in the glorious sunshine. Sunny and bright at 6:25 p.m. It's a miracle! Hope you have a great one too.
DeleteI meant "had!"
DeleteOK Enjoy your walk - will write soon :)
DeleteHope that you are feeling better soon. Take care of yourself! xx
ReplyDeleteI feel better tonight but my cough sounds really awful. haha. But maybe it has to get worse before it's better?
DeleteI hope you start feeling better soon. xo -- silver fox
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am feel better this evening! Even gave the boys haircuts!
DeleteWhat a sweet photograph.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I know I won't get doves....just so it isn't cowbirds or crows. haha.
DeleteSee, now I want to be a bird too.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess....a blue bird? :)
Deleteha. nice....i like that you just gave them their own basket...i am sorry to hear you have a cold though. i had one last week..with all the weather back and forth its expected almost...hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteI will give them their own basket...when it's warm enough. This photo was just for inspiration. No baby doves have hatched or grown that big here in snow country. haha.
DeleteYuck to the germs
ReplyDeleteHopefully they squirm away like worms
Hmmm bad thought there
Another nasty affair
Maybe Mr. cardinal will settle down
If the cats can't reach they may frown
What germs are you talking about?
DeleteWhich ones make you pout?
I don't like germs either you know
but I don't mind watching the baby birds grow!
All germs make me pout
DeleteDidn't you say you had a cold about?
That is germs
Feed the birds some worms
Oh! yes, I do have a cold.
DeleteBut I sanitized my hands before I typed so bold.
I thought you were talking about the birds
and they might be insulted by your words.
lol...
haha they are germy I suppose
DeleteBut don't come near anyway as they strike a pose
Great idea....
ReplyDeleteDryer fluff is excellent for nest building♥️
Hope you feel better 🌸
Cheers!
Linda :o)
With my luck, if I went to the trouble to put out a special basket for the birds they'd snub it :-)
ReplyDeletespoken like a true pessimist. haha. You'd get along well with the mister! :)
DeletePessimist......or realist?
DeleteOMG..that is EXACTLY what he would have said!
DeleteYes, it sounds like I'd get along well with the Mister.
DeleteBetsy how I said you in the morning hope you feel better tomorrow:)
ReplyDeleteand whats is all this talk about my eye? lol

I think Eddie likes to tease you! And he sent you a beautiful song!
DeleteI think many people love teasing me lol
DeleteEddie I will see at home because now I m in my phone.
Im at my mom home Betsy.
Hope you feel better tomorrow!
ok. Tell your mom I said hello! ;)
DeleteHello Gloria ;)
DeleteHi Eddie!
DeleteThis is so cute. I get mourning doves nesting in about anything. One year they nested in the hanging plant right next to my back door. The activity there never ruffled her feathers! lol!
ReplyDeleteMy craziest nesting experience was with ducks at the lake. At the end of the dock is a big stoneware urn and I had just planted flowers in it the weekend before. Getting up there the following weekend late at night, I went down the dock in the dark to see if my flowers were alive. I surprised a duck who had already laid her eggs in it. She squawked and flapped her wings and I nearly peed my pants!! And she stayed for weeks and weeks and of course my flowers died. End of story! :)
XO,
Jane
Aw...Mrs. Duck loved your flower urn! Cute stories....I had one in a wreath on my front door once. That was crazy, too and she finally went elsewhere.
DeleteSorry to hear you aren't feeling good. Take good care of yourself and feel better real soon.
ReplyDeleteWe had a cardinal nest in the wreath on our front door two yers ago. Couldn't use that door til they all left the nest. I love the picture of the doves... so sweet. We just got home from seeing the movie Noah. Doves played a big part in the movie. Great movie! I've heard some complaints that it isn't true to the story. But after all it's a movie inspired by the story. Has a great message and good acting.
I'm feeling much better tonight...just a yucky cough left. I hope it's not that kind that lingers for weeks. ha. So annoying.
DeleteI'm glad you liked that movie. Yes, I agree, it's a movie inspired by the story...not a documentary!
Would love to see your photos if birds nested in a hanging basket on the porch. Sounds like a great idea. Hope you feel 100% soon!
ReplyDeleteIt won't look near as cool if they aren't doves. haha...but I'll just have to see what ends up building a nest there.
DeleteHi Betsy .. hope you feel better ... but what a great idea ... and perhaps they'll come back each year and you can watch the family grow .. cats below, birds above ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeletethanks, Hilary...I'm definitely on the tail end of the cold. :)
DeleteAwwwwwwwww - love your new banner! Those girls look like they are about to have some fun :-)
ReplyDeleteAren't they sweet?
DeleteAgree with Suza - just love the new header!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking it, too. :)
DeleteI think if one of them was you it would be the cheeky looking one, on in from the right! LOL
DeleteCheeky? But I'm never cheeky! ha. ok..new post is up!
