stories of my dear mini van over the last year.
The bald tires that would hydroplane me during rainy
days, the power steering belt that popped off twice
while I was driving over 55 mph, the broken compressor
on the A/C, the dead horn, the dead cruise control, rust,
broken gas cap cover, broken hub cap and last but not least
those possessed wipers that would not run in the rain but
would come on full speed when the van was off and the
keys in my hand! Oh my, did I need new wheels!
cosmetic ones) totalled $2000, we
knew it was time to let it go. They gave us $500
for it at trade in, and The Mister said they were being
extremely generous. ha-ha!
So, here is my new (to us) Jeep Commander.
Everything works! It's a pleasure drive.
I'm loving the V8!
I'm so very thankful!
It's absolutely beautiful.... I sure want to see a picture of you in the drivers seat!!
ReplyDeleteOur daughter's Mimi Van died last week, and they got a White Land Rover...My daughter feels the same as you...what a pleasure to drive a new car, when you've had an old one for a very long time.
Enjoy!!!!
Wow! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteomg! that is awesome! jeep commanders are amazing...would love to have one but it may be years with our minivan...lol. congrats!
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ my sister drives a Land Rover...love those!
ReplyDeleteBrian ~ I hope the years with your mini van are more enjoyable than ours were! ha. No, actually our van was a 97 and it served us very, very well for many years...even when we had 4 baby car seats in it! oh my!
ReplyDeleteSon #3 is in the same position you were, but he doesn't have enough money yet for a new set of wheels.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have many miles of happy driving.
Kathy ~ tell him to hang in there...we didn't either for a couple of years! Somehow it held together!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I know you must be enjoying it. I can just imagine you zipping around town on these wheels.
ReplyDeleteOh, good! I wondered what you bought. Our van is still holding up (for now) although when we go more than an hour or so away (one way) we get a rental vehicle. We've had some hefty repairs on it in the last six months, but it is our only vehicle right now. We're probably going to get an additional vehicle soon and actually were discussing it just a little while ago. It's just going to be something for local driving though (getting Hubby to the drop-off point for Michivan carpooling, when we need to be two places at once, etc.).
ReplyDeleteI see Steak and Shake in the background. I hope it was happy hour and you got a half price shake. I love to take the kids through every so often and do that. It's $10 for five large specialty shakes. You can so not beat that anywhere!
I'm still driving a mini van with many similarities to your old one. It doubles as a U-Haul. Good luck with the new wheels...long may it run!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a Jeep Cheroke and it was my favorite one we have ever had..great vehicles! Have lots of fun in it :D
ReplyDeleteWhat, no sun roof?
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful new-to-you car! I know you will feel so much safer whenever you venture out now.
ReplyDeleteMy mini van was the same way. I took it in for repairs and they said shoot it. I was ready to let it go but it still looked nice, that is all. Nice new set of wheels that you have there and I bet it is easier to drive.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have a dependable set of wheels..very necessary in this day and age.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got a safer ride! My minivan is starting to see some cosmetic wear and tear but I still love it. The online reviews called it "cavernous". I love being able to haul around kids and lots of thrifty furniture finds! It was my first brand new car and will probably be my last one. I'll have to keep driving it even if I have to do the Fred Flinstone thing with my feet!
ReplyDeleteA fine looking vehicle Betsy - safe driving in it.
ReplyDeleteGOOD LOOKIN' vehicle. Bet Taylor likes to drive it!
ReplyDeleteI am very happy for you!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee and have loved it ever since the day we got it. Very fun to drive and no posessed windshield wipers:-)
ReplyDeleteSilver Fox ~ would you believe it has 3 sunroofs? I know it was late when you wrote that comment, much less sober....but I did post about rain in my new car's sun roof last week. ;) haha.
ReplyDeleteJill ~ Taylor LOVES to drive it. he says he gets 'so much more respect on the road' LOL! Not sure about that, but it is fun to drive! :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you...I love the Jeep Commander...good looking!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you got the good from your mini van/ha
Enjoy!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!
ReplyDelete:) The Bach
Very nice! It will be good on the snowy roads this winter. Not that we want to think about that now : )
ReplyDeletehave I told you how much I love your blog? I so look forward to it when there is a new entry!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have some 'new wheels'!!!
blessings, mel
Melody-mae ~ you are so sweet...thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteVery Pretty! Congrats and I hope you continue to love it!
ReplyDeleteWOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteUhhh... The reason I wrote the sun roof comment was BECAUSE I read that post about your vehicle getting soaked...
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Nothing like some new wheels.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I know you will enjoy having that one to drive! =)
ReplyDeleteWith a name like "Commander" you should have a lot of fun driving your new vehicle.
ReplyDeleteHave you learned all the buttons and other gizmos yet?
Hmmmm now there is a mean set of wheels. The kind that command respect on the road. A nice ride indeed Betsy. I know all to well what it is like to drive around in a 'bomb' and the delight of getting behind the steering wheel of a new & reliable vehicle. Happy driving Betsy!
ReplyDeleteOoooooh she's got a new ride! Girlfriend, that is a beauty and beautiful blessing to your family! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteChachaneen~ aww, thanks. He is a beauty! I'm having so much fun taking him out for a ride. ha.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That last one didn't seem very safe so I am sure you are feeling relieved to have "New Wheels".
ReplyDeletePleasure drive indeed compared to the old worn out one. Mmm..I love it and am so glad you have that now to enjoy adn to trust to get you places!
ReplyDeleteYou & that car were made to be together Betsy. What the car showroom salesman has joined together let no man put asunder - amen.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
