Our triplets love trains!
Actually, that is an understatement!
In 2002 we took a trip to Altoona, Pennsylvania and
let the boys experience the Horseshoe Curve, a
train museum, and walked around an old train yard.
I've always loved this picture of Spencer studying
the trains. Seeing them upclose and personal
was an awesome experience for him!
He's just dwarfed by their size!

Betsy, that is such a cool shot. The trains do look huge, and Spencer looks totally captivated.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had too many train trips, but the few I've have, I loved.
There's a certain romanticism attached to trains. I always watch them pass whenever possible. Depending on my mood, sometimes I want to jump onto one, and other times... well, never mind...
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for the guys...I would be amazed too, they are so big! :D
ReplyDeletewe love trains too! when we live in MD we went on a train ride one day up in PA...so cool...
ReplyDeleteBetsy, a fine photograph. They are rather BIG huh? & the smell & sounds.travel used to be much more elemental then I guess.
ReplyDeleteMy grandson loves trains too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious picture of your son.
I enjoyed visiting,

What a wonderful photo! It really captures the essence of a lttle boy's fasciantion with trains. My youngest grandson, who recently turned four, has a great love of all things railroad related, too.
ReplyDeleteI have got to go there one of these years!
ReplyDeleteMr. Fox ~ just don't jump in front of one! LOL!
ReplyDeleteand thanks very much for your editing help on the photo. ;)
Between that remark, the (possible?) ending of the last Simpson/Lynch post, and my entry for the Silver Fox blog today, it seems like suicide is becoming a theme!
ReplyDeleteWell, if I had to choose a way to go, I'd take the less violent route! haha
ReplyDeleteThere's a magic to trains that many of us feel -- we can hear, now and then, the whistle and the sounds of trains passing in the distance -- always romantic to me.
ReplyDeleteTrains are mysterious, exciting, magical, romantic ~ no wonder they are so loved. Enjoyed this photo a lot. Hope your weekend is a good one.
ReplyDeleteThere are probably few things more exciting for small boys, than to be in the big world of trains or similar feats of engineering. Lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that the boys were thrilled to be up close and personal to so many trains.
ReplyDeleteVery nice picture of Spencer. He looks like he is in awe of the huge trains. Sounds like a fun time : )
ReplyDeleteGreat pic! I'm sure he was fascinated. Have the guys been on a train ride? They would love it!
ReplyDelete:) The Bach
What a great pic!
ReplyDeletegreat photo and I know where Altoon is. Trains are from the past, interesting that the young guys would be interested in them...oh well there was that train chracter, was it Thomas?
ReplyDeleteMy grandson was totally fascinated with trains when he was a toddler. I use to take him to see a car that was parked on the tracks and he would say "Thomas, Thomas, woo, woo"! It was so much fun. Now he is playing soccer and football...leaving trains in the past!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, & I'm right there with them--I love trains!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture. I love trains too--have ridden them back and forth across country four times!!
ReplyDeletePat ~ they love the old ones and the new ones...and even Thomas...still!
ReplyDeleteLeah ~ our boys would love a cross country train trip! We've talked about taking one some time!
ReplyDeleteLovely photograph. When you eventually come and visit all your friends here in Britain I will take you and your five boys to the National Railway Museum in York and then afterwards on a steam train to the home of the Bronte sisters in Haworth.
ReplyDeleteAlan ~ that sounds absolutely lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip.
ReplyDeleteYou will have to go again someday.
GREAT PHOTO...and Spence has DEFINITELY GROWN since it was taken!
That is an awesome shot! You are to be envied somewhat in that keen captivation that he holds - he will never lose that, I suspect.
ReplyDeleteKat
He is dwarfed by their size and that is a wonderful photo.
ReplyDeleteI have the same love for trains.
Wonderful photo! My boys would love an outing like this... in fact, Pop is in the process of planning and train excursion for them, I can't wait to see their faces.
ReplyDeleteOh B! The sepia look REALLY transforms this picture. Beautiful!
ReplyDeletePoetikat ~ yes, I think you're right...he'll never loose it!
ReplyDeleteChacha ~ I think I need to have this one blown up. Wouldn't it look great in their train-themed computer/tv room?
ReplyDeletethat picture is award winning!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot. I've never taken that trip but would love to! I am living in Pennsylvania. We just took an Amtrak from Lancaster to New York and back. What a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeletewhoa, he looksk so tiny there. I didn't realise those trains were quite so big. Wow. Great Post.
ReplyDeleteMmm ~ he's 8 years old, but still...he does look tiny! I didn't realize they were so big either until we were on that trip!
