and Harry brought me a can of green beans from the
pantry. I asked if he wanted green beans for supper
and he nodded yes! Doesn't he look happy? ha-ha!
It reminded me of when he was a baby....he loved
those Gerber strained green beans, too!
More than once he cried
when they were gone and I felt so
sorry for him I would heat him up a second jar!
What a sweet memory. I had forgotten it
until he jogged my memory with this request.
Where are your manners, Harry? Use your fork!
P.S. ~ this is typically how Harry's plate looks for
every meal. A few minor changes...carrots instead
of green beans, or a banana instead of the applesauce.
But this is pretty much his entire diet.
At least it has something from each food group!
(if you count yogurt as a protein)
And he loves these divided plates...can't have your
mini wheats touching your green beans, you know!
Oh, but you neglected to include potato chips!
ReplyDeleteMy oldest son didn't crawl, he shuffled on his little diapered bottom like a little crab. Just today, as he played with a car on the kitchen floor I saw him do that little crab crawl again {at age 6.5} and it made me smile.
Oh MG...you have to clean your plate to get chips! :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen babies do that crab crawly thing...too cute!
This plate looks GREAT! Now if you are going to have mini wheats AND green beans in the same meal there is NO WAY the two should EVER meet!
ReplyDeleteI know some adults who would love to have a divided plate like that. They don't want any of their food mixed with any other. I think Harry's diet is pretty varied. Good for him.
ReplyDeleteFunny how the oddest things bring back floods of memories.
You are absolutely right. Mini-wheats and green beans just wouldn't be a good combo :) I do love dry mini-wheats as a snack....very good!
ReplyDeletewow....Noah's intake is so much more limited than that. That is a nice variety on his plate! Good for him!
ReplyDeleteGood for Harry, eating his veggies!! My kiddos love divided plates~I even like them myself at those huge family pot-lucks:)
ReplyDeleteI hope that Billy eats that much variety one day. If he ate a green bean I would probably jump for joy. For now it is grilled cheese for dinner every day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice way to arrange his food. I wish Parker would eat a vegitable. He looks happy! How nice he brought you want he wanted to eat!
ReplyDeleteYay, Harry! I would like to have a divided plate just like you!!
ReplyDeleteHow unusual that he likes green beans! Usually kids don't want these at all; amazing!;) He is just a smart guy.;))
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Harry! I love green beans, wish I had some fresh ones now! I miss my granddad's garden so much!
ReplyDeleteVery cute shot! I wish I could get my daughter to eat like that. I don't think she has every willingly eaten a vegetable in her life!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think my sixteen-year old daughter, Puppet, and I are definitely a couple of Harry's disciples! We, too, simply love to eat (as we put it) "categorically"! Our next stop, the signpost up ahead: bento boxes! Maybe Harry would like to give it a fun try sometime, too?
ReplyDeleteWell, he's got a point. I don't really like my food mixed either, even fruit salad. I'd much prefer a little of each fruit separately. I do dearly love green beans!!!
ReplyDeleteI think its nice Harry has a favorite food since baby hood. My daughter always loved baby food custard when she was a baby and now she will always choose a custard or creme brulee for dessert if given the choice
ReplyDeleteHi! I am Susan's daughter and my favorite part about your blog is the pictures of Nugget ;D He is so cute! I am featuring him on my photo blog under the Flopsy tab.
ReplyDeleteI love green beans too. I like the french cut kind the best.

Sparkle ~ those bento boxes are so neat! I'd never heard of them before! What a classy way to box lunch or store leftovers in the refrig! Makes Rubbermaid look a little blah!
ReplyDeleteCaroline ~ Hi there! You are so sweet to add Nugget to your photo blog! I'll come over and look for him real soon!
ReplyDeleteharry's diet looks quite healthy and fresh! i'm with steviewren, many adults would love the divided plates, including me!
ReplyDeleteI still like canned green beans. Even with fresh ones available nearly all the tie. Canned or fresh? It's like having two completely different vegetables.
ReplyDeleteHa! I didn't have to look at the three suggested posts - I remember each one very well - all wonderful.
This post made me smile! I just want to give Harry a big hug. He does look so content with his green beans:)
ReplyDeletego Harry ~divided plates are a happy thing!
ReplyDeleteelk
I'm impressed that his diet looks so healthy! I love the divided plates, too - go Harry!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Oh, I love this with the divided plate. So colorful, too! How funny about the chips.
ReplyDeleteChocolate would have to be added for me I'm afraid!!
ReplyDeleteGreen beans wouldn't have done him any harm. We're always being dictated to about veg and fruit aren't we.

One of my sisters doesn't like her food touching on the plate...and she eats all of one pile before moving on. I told her she needed to purchase some "fine china" that includes separated plate sections!!!! I hope you are doing well. Blessings.
ReplyDeletedivided plates are a must, aren't they? :) Frosted mini wheats and green beans is a dinner for champions! Harry has a great variety! I'm so jealous. :)
ReplyDeleteYour son eats veggies! That is so great. My son hasn't touched a veggie since he was little. I make my own wheat pizza dough and substitute the sauce with V8 tomato soup and grind up almonds and put it in the dough. Pizza is the only "veggie" and the only dairy my son will eat! Good thing you can hide a lot in pizza, lol. My son actually pointed to the breaded fish fillets when I was getting supper ready the other night and picked his up and ate it like a chicken nugget. He hasn't eaten a fish stick since he was little. He will go through food obssessions where he will eat the same thing for months and then not eat it for years. With his food pickiness it's amazing he grows!
ReplyDeleteYoghurt is def. a protein, I have it every day.
ReplyDeletei love your little slices of domestic life adn your loyalty to your fam. It's so sweet.
