Happy Thanksgiving

I hope you all had a happy thanksgiving with family, friends
and whoever else you spent the day with!
We are spending our usual Black Friday at home,
in pajamas, eating pecan pie for breakfast!

Feeling thankful.
Counting blessings.

Blue Jays

Ever since we started keeping a little bucket
of peanuts in our crab apple tree, we've had
a nice group of Blue Jays feeding in our yard.
They've stayed since last winter, nested here
in the spring and raised their young over the summer!
I guess we better keep the peanut bucket full
for the next generation to come!
The jays are always fun to see with those beautiful
blue feathers....weather it's in the gold leaves
or against the sparkling snow!
If you want to keep a peanut bucket in your tree,
just punch a few holes in the bottom so it doesn't
fill with rain water and you're good to go!

Home Sweet Home

the view from my kitchen desk

"With pomp, power and glory the world beckons vainly,
in chase of such vanities why should I roam?
While peace and content bless my little thatched cottage,
and warm my own hearth with the treasures of home."

Beatrix Potter

A quote after my hermit's heart.

The leaves are falling in full force outside now,
but these two decided to stick to the garden
 window and peek inside!

The Beaver Moon

Last night was the full moon of November!
It's called the Beaver Moon.  A moon so full and
bright that, according to The Farmer's Almanac,
people could set their beaver traps
in the dark, insuring that they would have
enough furs to keep them warm all winter.

We finally had a night that wasn't cloudy or rainy
and I got some photos of it.  No beaver traps were set,
although we do have a live trap set for a raccoon.
Does that count? haha.
