Much prettier than dusk here lately. We just seem to plunge from gloomy alleged daylight to utter darkness. Fairly grim. My brother is being repatriated tomorrow. I think. I will be glad to have him back in England as the Scots I have been dealing with this past week although uniformly charming and friendly are just so uninformed about anything outside their home town. It's as though they never heard of London. And they cannot cope at all with different districts of London. East Finchley where's that (actually a very vibrant little village just 15 minutes from my house) or Golders Green (most famous crematorium in the UK). It's as though England was a story that might or might not be true. And (really annoying) the lovely people at the funeral directors can only ask one question per phone call. This means 15 phone calls instead of perhaps 3. Oh, and I don't think they ever heard of a search engine. I don't know how Scotland ever thought it could be an independent nation if employees at proper funeral parlours don't know how to use google! We may get a funeral date in the next couple of days. I do hope so. G
Oh, my goodness.....I'm so sorry...you just don't need the added stress right now, do you! Hopefully tomorrow will be the day and the rest of the plans can be made. Thinking of you!
Such a gorgeous sunset, beautiful warm days, and cool autumn nights, a mixture of palette and a spectacular vista. Makes me want to just sit there and soak it all in..... Perfect. ~Jo
It is beautiful. I love to watch skies. Sky is peace to me. Love this time of the day when everything settles down. Love the mornings skies too. And the storm ones. Well les make it short. Love them all ... lol.
Gorgeous! I've had clouds and rain here today so I didn't see it but I'm glad you did. A "frozen mix" arrives this weekend - it seems Fall has gone by so quickly!
Oooh...I hadn't heard about the frozen mix! But we did have several inches of snow this time last year, do you remember that? Orange leaves of the trees and snow on top!
Unfortunately, I don't. I lost memory capabilities after surgery last September . . but then I never had much of a memory beforehand either! ha ha. This weekend might be a chilly one, but it's supposed to be back in the 50's for Thanksgiving!! Can't beat that!
Didn't know it was called the blue hour. I learn something new everyday. Those colors are so vibrant and gorgeous! I could look at that for an hour or so. I just came in from watching the moon peek in and out of the clouds. It was so relaxing. I tried to get a picture, but failed. I think I have the wrong camera and lens for nighttime shots.
Yeah, isn't that a cool name? So appropriate...and if someone didn't tell me about it, I wouldn't have noticed that the sky really is navy blue just before going black. Kind of neat to watch for it and notice how beautiful it is. This photo is from a couple of days ago...we have clouds tonight....no moon to see!
You do seem to have a lot of gorgeous sunsets, whereas here we seem to have more grey skies now in the evening. I can't recall seeing a nice sunset in the last few weeks.
Hi Betsy - lovely clear skies you've got .. and it's a gorgeous shot. We're about to get clear skies and that means one other thing - much colder weather! It's been wonderful ... but not good for farmers - the crops keep growing and the market is saturated (lots type, not rain type!) ... I heard one farmer say he couldn't wait for the cold to come ... to hold the crops (cauliflowers) in the ground - he was a Cornish farmer. Cheers Hilary
Beautiful ... . . nice shot! . . :)
ReplyDeleteI do love a sunset! The sky was so beautiful!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous photo. Very peaceful. And, as you you know, my favourite time of day too. Something very magical about those minutes.
ReplyDeleteMagical is a good way to describe it...and it's easy to miss if you aren't being mindful of it. So lovely!
DeleteThat is such a special time of evening. It goes along with the Golden Hour. The way our house is situated I miss so many Blue and Gold moments.
ReplyDeleteThe Golden Hour? Doesn't that have something to do with a traumatic injury? I've never heard of it as far as sun/sky/moon. When is it?
DeleteThanks for sharing your sunset. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!

We really have been having the best of fall....coolness with some warmth. It's been gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteMe, too! I love the sky...clouds, sun, moon...even stormy.
DeleteOne of many pleasures that arrive from the sun.
ReplyDeleteI do agree....we should all stop and take notice a little more, don't you think?
DeleteBlue as can be
ReplyDeleteA sight to see before you can't see
Unless the moon is bright
Then you got some light
How very profound of you
Deleteas you talk about my hour of blue.
Doesn't happen when it's grey...
you just go to night from day.
A profound cat
DeleteWho'd have thought of that
Oh, I knew you were smart!
DeleteYou even have a heart
Underneath all that sarcasticness
You're wise and sweet, I'd guess! Lol
Beautiful Betsy !!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? A lovely shade of blue!
DeleteBeautiful sunset and perfect hour for an "aperitivo" :-)
ReplyDeleteI had to look that up...a pre-dinner drink. Why yes, that
Deleteis very true!
Gorgeous!!! You should sell calendars with these pictures on them. :)
ReplyDeletehaha...oh, I think my run with calendars is over. But this would be a good shot for one!

DeleteWe do keep going back and forth, don't we? I like it cold on Thanksgiving...the house is usually hot enough with all the cooking going on! haha....

I didn't know it had a name, now I like it even more!
ReplyDeleteI didn't either until about a year or so ago. So appropriate...and with a name, it makes me pay attention more!
DeleteYou do seem to have a lot of gorgeous sunsets, whereas here we seem to have more grey skies now in the evening. I can't recall seeing a nice sunset in the last few weeks.
ReplyDeleteIs that kind of like the grass always being greener? haha..... tonight was actually grey...no sunset or blue hour.
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Linda :o)
:o)
DeleteI love that time!
ReplyDeleteIt comes a little too early now, though, doesn't it? haha.

ReplyDeleteI do agree that you can really feel the temps drop when the skies are clear.....a pun is intended when we call clouds a blanket over the earth!
DeleteFrom Cornish, you say? I wonder if he had any hens (wink)
