Some of you may remember last fall when
I entered Jack in a Cutest Pet Photo contest.
Well, he won!
I need to stop in to my orthodontist and pick
up the prize...a $150 gift card to PetSmart!
I can't think of a zoo more worthy
(and needy) than mine. haha.
At least he can say that he earns his board and keep!
What a good kitty!
Thanks to all of you who voted for him, too!
We couldn't have done it without you!
All of our other cats adopted us, as you know...
feral cats from the neighborhood just wanting food
and water. But Jack was found in town outside an
office building. He was just a baby, near death
in the July heat...starving and dehydrated.
After three days of hearing him cry from the
bushes, someone we know called and asked if
we would be interested in taking him in.
And the rest is history.
You know, he still can't meow! I think he permanently
injured his vocal chords crying for his mom.
He lets out a little squeak, sounding something
like a rusty hinge on a door.
Kinda cute and quirky. ha.
I'm glad we were able to put a happy ending on his story.
And you know, he still does crazy antics every day
like jumping into the frig. He's so full of personality.
What a sweet pet he is!
♥
omg...that is awesome!!!! and i bet that will come in handy at the zoo...smiles...he is a cute kitten...smiles...
ReplyDeletevery handy! Now I just have to decide...food? or maybe flea control would be a good idea. ha. Cuz no fleas are allowed inside the zoo! :)
DeleteI remember voting for him. Glad he won! He's awfully cute and I'm glad you rescued him.
ReplyDeletethanks mari! He seems very grateful, too. ha.
DeleteCongrats Jack! So glad he has a happy home with you now.
ReplyDeleteMe, too. He's such a sweet thing!
DeleteYeah for Jack! (And of course you too for your wonderful photography skills and keen eye.)
ReplyDeleteWe once had a kitten who squeaked rather than meowed. We called her Squeak. We kept her for a little while and then heard of a grieving man who was looking for a companion and so she went to live with him. I heard she was well loved.
Aw. what a cute story! I'm sure her squeaks entertained him...and what a great idea, too! Pets bring a lot of lonely people love and happiness.
DeleteCongratulations! He is a sweet pea who found an wonderful place to live!
ReplyDeletewe are enjoying him so much! :)
DeleteYEAH!!! Jack is a hands-down winner (in so many ways).
ReplyDeleteI am very happy that you will receive the prize.
Mrs. Doolittle you are loved. Jack proved it the best way he could, by being himself.
I'm happy, too! I can certainly put that money to good use! Pets do make us feel loved, don't they? :)
DeleteNothing like Show Biz... Now you have a celebrity in the house!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mr. Jack and how nice to have the money to spend at PetSmart.
yes, we do! That was a lot of fun!
DeleteWay to go, Jack! lol I'd take him to PetSmart and let him pick out some gourmet kitty food.
ReplyDeleteI do remember this picture and showed my fiancee. By the way, do you still have those strawberries?
Cheers!
I do think he should at least get to pick out a new toy....he does love his toys!
DeleteThe strawberries are long gone...as is the young kitten face on Jack! ha.
way to go Jack! I love that photo!!!
ReplyDeletethanks, laurie!

ReplyDeleteSure it can highly be used at your shack
Plus you could use it to buy a giant litterbox at petsmart
Cassie and Orlin love thier sandbox at our cart haha
haha...a giant one, you say?
DeleteIt would be needed at my bay!
Might have to let Jack pick out a new fishie
so he can drown it in the water bowl sea.
hahaha.
haha yeah it works well
DeleteAnd doesn't have as much smell
They both still like the fishies here
Chasing the around with no fear
I put all the fishes through the washer and dryer
Deleteand they were nice, clean and so much fresher.
But minutes later Jack had them swimming
and me shaking my head and murmuring. lol.....
Yay for Jack! I am not surprised that he won; that pic was adorable.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I got very lucky with him posing like that....I would have voted for it even if i didn't know him! And we will certainly have fun using that card!
Deletecongrats! my grandson thinks both the photos were winners. he is still giggling.
ReplyDeletehaha...oh, good! Glad they amused him! :)
DeleteSo....what will Jack pick at PetSmart???
ReplyDeleteToys....

Perhaps a new litter scoop...
Oh....how about a nice sherpa lined cat bed...
How about a few goldfish...or a pet rat...
Some catnip...yes...catnip...and he can share with the rest at the Zoo..
Cheers!
Linda :o)
haha...those are all great ideas!
DeleteLOL...I was going to ask if he was in the refrigerator and then I read the end of your post. I am tickled that you won. Very deserving with taking Jack in as a baby and caring for him. Jack's a lucky kitty.
ReplyDeleteHe sounds a lot like my sweet dear departed cat of 21 years as of last Spring. She had no meow....just a squeak so she was named Mouse. :) A funny quirky little tiny cat. Jack is so photogenic! Whenever we took photos of Mouse she always looked so mad. :) Have a wonderful week Betsy and congratulations.xo
Thanks, Lynn!
Deleteaw...I love the name Mouse for a cat. How cute and funny! 21 years is a nice long life. I had one life to 18 once...my very first pet.
Excellent !
ReplyDeleteKinds regards from Paris,
Pierre
why, thank you, Pierre! Speaking of excellent, so it that photo on your post today!
DeleteCongratulations to Jack! Yes, he IS earning his keep :-)
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting how our cats each have their own 'meow'. No matter why they're vocalizing, one sounds like he's sad, the other sounds like he's ticked off.
yes, that is true...some here are loud and make everyone pay attention and others rarely meow and have such tiny soft voices!
DeleteCongrats to Jack. He is very cute. Love the fridge pic, going to share on Pinterest, so cute
ReplyDeleteaw, thanks Fred!
DeleteCongratulations Jack - and congratulations Betsy. And a word to Jack, if I may, you really ought to spread just a little of your winnings to the photographer who made your success possible.
ReplyDeleteI think he'll share...Jack is sweet like that. :)
DeleteAwesome!! His momma is due credit for his wonderful photo shoot, too! ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeletewell, he posed...I was just lucky enough that he stayed that way until I got my camera! lol....
DeleteCongrats Betsy! I'm so happy that Jack won and I don't know anyone more deserving of a pet shop gift card than you and your zoo! (I guess the rhyming is contagious...lol) My female cat, Sassy, doesn't meow either -- she just makes little squeaky sounds. She was a stray in our neighborhood for a few weeks before we took her in and I'm guessing she wore out her vocal cords asking to be let in at all the doors she visited. Glad that you're enjoying Jack and his antics so much!
ReplyDeletethanks, Dawn. :) Aw, Sassy sounds like a sweetie. How lucky she is to have found you! The squeaks are endearing, I think. Our Socks has the quietest little meow...sound so funny coming from a large cat. haha.
DeleteTuna cakes- that sounds interesting. Can you post the recipe?
ReplyDeleteSure, I'll even take pics tonight. :) It's just like a crab cake, but made with tuna.
DeleteThis cat looks exactly like mine did.
ReplyDeleteI had mine for 18 years. He was a great cat.
Congrats on the win.:)
thanks, lady. :) 18 years is a nice, long life. IT's sad when they leave us, though. My very first cat lived that long!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jack and refrigerator Baroness on the win!
lol....thanks, daniel. :)
DeleteWell, no surprise there--he's a VERY cute cat. :) Congratulations Jack! May you have many more refrigerator escapades. :p
ReplyDeleteOh, don't wish that one me! haha...I really don't allow kittens in the frig. haha.
DeleteCongratulations to you and your top model! You did a brilliant job as a photographer as you always do and Jack is such a cute boy! I am especially touched by the story of his being rescued. How very lucky he was to find such a good place to live. You must be a very nice person, Betsy! But I know, if you have a heart, it is hard to send a homeless kitty away, once it has made it to your doorstep. I have three of them at home myself... "Purzel", the cat from my header, whom you mentioned to me, is one of them. He turned up last winter, very shy and sick, with bleeding eyes. We fed him and cured him and he has lived in our conservatory ever since, as my two ladies won´t have him in the house and he gets panicky himself, when he comes in and I close the door. So he comes to the kitchen door for his meals and he now likes to be caressed and whenever I approach him he behaves very funny: he immediately throws himself on his back and just before my feet, rolls around on the floor and looks up at me kind of worshipping. Obviously Purzel is and probably will be the only male being, which will ever do that for me...
ReplyDeleteChristel
Oh, you have a sweet rescue story of your own! He sounds shy and wonderful....and grateful to live there with you. Aww. :)
DeleteI take it that cold-cats are your favorite version of cold-cuts.
ReplyDeletehaha...oh, now,...that was a very clever comment! :)
DeleteA little squeak? Yep, cute and quirky indeed!
ReplyDeleteOH How I love a happy ending with a sweet kitten!
ReplyDeleteOH How I love a happy ending with a sweet kitten!
ReplyDeleteBetsy Jack is happy with the food he won:)
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy .. love that photo of Jack with his whiskers ... and he's a lucky kitten to have been adopted by you and thankfully he's settled in with the others ... and yes I'm sure that token will benefit the zoo ..
ReplyDeleteCheers Hilary
