Girl Power

I've never been one to make out a Honey-Do list.
And let's face it girls, usually the things that would go
on the list aren't as important to our husbands as
they are to us! LOL! And if you're like me, when you
have an idea or a project, you want to
do it now and not wait for the weekend! :)
With that idea in mind, I've accumulated my own
set of tools over the years...small for girly hands
but still good quality and powerful.
Craftsman and Black & Decker make many
smaller scale tools...hammers, drills, pliers,
electric scissors...I got a soldering iron that
I'm anxious to learn how to use! I'll let
you know how that goes! :)

  1. I have a few small tools that are just for me too. And - it beats going out to my hubbys word shop and trying to find something!

  3. My husband bought me a girly tool box one year. (I think he just got tired of me using his tools). It sure comes in handy and I don't have to so out to the shed for his!

  4. Susie ~ you of all girls would certainly know that! :)

  5. Heavy is the word for it...some even for a guy. Just not perfected yet. I have the Mouse Sander and I love it for fixing up furniture before painting or after for distressing. Really small and powerful. Love it!

  7. Well you can tell just how unhandy i am as I have no idea what a "sautering iron" even is! now, if only you had included a pic of it. My tools now conists of a regular screwdriver and a corkscrew bottle opener! That's it! Don't even have a hammer and end up using rocks and such. Talk about feeling like a "Thad" is such times. LOL.

  8. I loved this post! I agree with everything, besides, living on my own most of the time I have to wait months for the Irishman to fix things. And when he is finally here, I want to spend time doing other things than DIYs.
I have similar tools to yours and have assembled furniture.
Have you ever tried to drill into a wall? I am in need of drilling but have not found the courage to do so (yet).;)

  9. Me too! I have a toolbox in the laundry cupboard and if anything goes missing, I'm not happy - hubby has a tendency to not put things back and, if he 'helps' with the garden, I get to put the tools away. Just absent-mindedness on his part; can't change him now!

  11. I really wanted a new girl-drill this year but Santa didn't bring me one. I guess I'll have to go out and buy myself one.

I already have my own tool box!

Have fun tackling all those projects.

  13. My husband kept borrowing my tool kit, so I gave my husband a hammer as a gift and he lost it!

  15. Amen, my projects aren't nearly as important to my husband as they are to me....I get comments like, "do you want me to do that right now"? I bite my tongue to keep from saying "no next summer will be fine" LOL
Ok I guess sometimes I say that!!!

  18. Based on the same basic principle, I need to acquire a needle and thread - but ones for big hands.

  19. Alan ~ The Mister could certainly relate to that as he has big hands, too! :)

  21. Thank goodness for women who can do DIY. I never dare venture beyond decorating. I know my limits.

  22. It does feel good to be self sufficient. It's such a feeling of accomplishment to finish a project.
I relly like ...mmm...'s comment...a screwdriver and a corkscrew are necessities. As long as the screwdriver is the drink made with orange juice : )

  29. I'll have to admit, since WT is gone a lot of the time, I can do a lot of repairs myself, including the guts of a toilet and removing and replacing plumbing joints. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, right?

  30. A sautering iron? Impressive! I don't even bother to get smaller tools because I have kind of big hands. Well, not man hands. Just long fingers that give me big hands. Mine are in my closet so I don't have to go to the garage. Unless I need the drill or bits...then I go to the garage.

I did get your email...just haven't had a chance to reply back. I told you I'd be busy! :)

  31. I'm impressed that you dig power tools! (By the way... it's "soldering iron.") ;)

  33. I really should get a set of these!

  34. I'm terrible at this type of stuff. I do have my own hammer. Rachel is my hero, because she can do it all too. Betsy, you amaze me.
