Oh, that is SOOO funny....well, at least from MY perspective! I think you need a new blind! I need my blinds OPEN first thing in the morning to let the light in...it is VERY important to me...AND...YOUR boys!!!
Jill ~ this is in their computer/tv room. The whole room is in desperate need of a makeover. It's next on my list...but there's that dreaded wallpaper that has to come off! And yes...a new blind is now on the list! At least the lilacs look pretty through the window!
That is the reason we don't have a single blind on a single window in our home. When he was younger he loved to go all over the house and pull the blinds apart and look out the windows. He wrecked all but 4 blinds. He used to also pull on the curtains so hard that he would bend the flimsy standard rods. We used to use screw hooks to hold up wooden dowels with big washers on the ends to hold them in place in the kids rooms where he was a repeat offender.
When we recently moved we just bought the $10.00 decorative rods and made sure his room had the tab top curtains so he could open and close them without bending the rods. All the upstairs rods are decorative with tab tops and the downstairs are mostly tie up shades.
When are we all going to start a company with "Autism" proof products? I've already had to invent so many different items and modifications in the past to keep him safe, protect his sister and keep him from destroying things I could probably start one myself!
LoL guess what my son did the same thing he and his friends went through the entire downstairs one day doing this .Oh my was I in shock than I just had to laugh and go with the flow. yes there was grounding,he and friends had to replace blinds one at a time they had a limited budget just like myself. Somehow I had forgotten all about this over the years. My son the culprit is 28 now . Wow where does the time go? Now it seems like just one more man child incident ,at the time it felt like the end of the world. :) blessings to you and yours.
Queen B ~ oh, what a great idea! I can see the website now...I bet we could all come up with some great products! And maybe we could have a sanity saving page just for mom!
OK... that one leaves the expression on my face the dog has when she doesn't understand me... but I totally get the whole picture described in staying home from school sick. BTW - love the new header photo! Again you inspire me!
The fact that they lasted 10 years is a miracle for us!! Our blinds don't last long at all because matty pulls them down to look outside all the time. Love the things they do to "fix" things....lol.

ReplyDeleteThat cracks me up! I guess that room makeover just moved up on your priority list a little. At least they are resourceful.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious though...what did they do with the slats?
Ha! Great solution! At least there is plenty of natural light now.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! What did they do with the slats?
ReplyDeleteThey stuck all the slats behind the tv cabinet! The little sneaks!
ReplyDeleteI guess it seemed like a logical solution to a minor problem.;)) Perhaps this is a good time to invest in new blinds.;))
ReplyDeleteOh how I do remember so many of the "answers" to problems that my children came up with. Well, at least you can buy a new one. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny, Betsy! Especially the fact that they hid the slats:)
ReplyDelete...... well, it makes sense to me!
ReplyDeleteSuch practical, logical thinkers, eh? Poor Mom... sounds like something I would of done when I was a kid.
ReplyDeletewell that is ONE solution i suppose! deep breath right!?
ReplyDeleteyou know that old saying, betsy: where there's a will, there's a way!!! i actually love their ingenuity!
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeleteOh my that's too funny. Thank goodness they have blinds now that are without slats.

You always look on the bright side Betsy! I can imagine your lilacs now!

ReplyDeleteTerry ~ I guess I should be thankful it was just one window! The whole house? Now that would be quite an expense to replace them all! Boys!
ReplyDeleteMarie ~ oh my, I see by your green look that you finally ate too much sourkraut! tee-hee!

ReplyDeleteoh no! Maybe a shade or shutter would be a better idea next time? I have blinds too, but those chords can be tricky and annoying sometimes
ReplyDeletePat ~ I think that's a good idea! Something indestructable!
ReplyDeleteIs ther such a thing as indestructable??!!
ReplyDeletePriceless. Love the pic. thanks for the smiles.
