Slithery Zoo Visitor

So, yesterday I showed you this photo of Domino intently looking at something.

When I saw that he was investigating a garter snake, I had to get my camera and take some photos!

He eventually got bored and left the snake alone.

But he looks like he was still dreaming of what it might have tasted like!
This isn't the first time the cats have played with a snake!
I was wondering if this is the same snake I suspect ate the Cardinal eggs!

  2. YIKES I hate snakes. any and all of them freak me out! My mom recently found a FAT 5' black snake in her yard on the farm! She got the neighbor man to kill it. My brother (my parents live with him) knew it was around but left it go because it ate the yucky critters that live on a farm. YUCK! He was wishing they would not have killed it.

    1. Oh my! I'm not scared of snakes. I would have picked him up if I had to. Now if it was a spider, forget it. lol.

      big and black? poisonous? eeew.

    2. Not poisonous, thankfully but BIG and BLACK. He slithered up into some Highbush Cranberry bushes and draped over the limbs awaiting his death watching them. evil ha

    1. haha...well, Domino couldn't even get his jaws around the thickness of the snake, so I figured, he wasn't in too much danger. And he really didn't act like he wanted to kill and eat it...just play awhile. lol...

    1. Who knows how long that went on
as I noticed after it was in full song.
Still fun to watch him poke and play
I guess it wasn't the snake's best day.
      lol.

    2. LOL well I bet he'll never come back
      To your shack
And tell all his snake freinds
      To avoid such trends
      So that will only help
So there will be no snakes around to make some yelp

    3. haha...yes, the word should be spread
      and cause some dread
      that to enter the zoo
means you could be lunch, too!

    1. haha..eew. At least his bite isn't as deadly. And that snake must not have tasted good since he let him go! Hope the snake doesn't want revenge, either!

  14. Hi Betsy!! So good to hear from you! Sorry I've been AWOL for so long. School is really taking all of my time and attention!! What a very pretty snake and these pictures are great! I just love how cats find a way to play with just about anything!

I hope all is well! Have a wonderful weekend and take care,

  16. Great pictures! Cats are so cute when they're playing with something, although I really don't like to see any creature tortured. Looks like this snake wasn't ruffed up too much. Just hope that non of your cats tries to bring a snake in the house ... but since you're not afraid of them I guess it wouldn't be a big deal ... lol!

    1. We usually scoop up the snake and relocate them before either party is hurt but I just watched this time. I don't think he had any intention of hurting him or he would have. I think he thought the snake was a fun toy. haha. In the house..you know, instead of screaming, I'd just grab my camera! lol. But still eeew...hope it doesn't happen...what if it slithered into hiding? ha.

  22. Hi Betsy .. loved the last two posts and now Domino playing - I presume garter snakes aren't poisonous .. only greedy ones. He's a handsome cat ..

Oh dear - Alex obsession sounds a little bit much - but I guess it comes with the territory .. but apple pies on the floor - just enjoy the summer ...

Cheers to you all - I've no idea if cherry pits take ... Hilary

  23. These pics are great. I'm a sucker for a good animal pic, and these are fun. My favorite ones are the big one, the watch it and the look it in the eye. Nice job capturing these on camera, I'd be all "get out of there and afraid for the cat, even if it wasn't the first time around.

    1. I probably should have been worried about him getting bit, but I figure with eight cats running around out there, they are going to get into more mischief than I can prevent. I can't stand guard all the time. But I'm probably a little too laid back about it....as you can see, I was happy just to take photos. ha. I do shoo away the raccoons and tom cats because they actually to go on the attack and are mean.

  24. EWWWWW...our cats brought us bits of mice, bits of birds...but NEVER snakes...
I don't think we have any snakes around here...or at the cottage...have never seen any..thank god..
