The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly #2

Because some days you need more than others!
In the spirit of keeping it real,
Here's a look at my week so far....

  • The school called and needed me to come. Alex was tantruming and they couldn't calm him down. Ugh. I hate calls like that. I arrived just 3 minutes later and he was in the 'time out' chair...calm, but having that "Boy, am I in trouble now" look about him.
  • A bee rode home in the van with me from Sams Club. More distracting than texting while driving, let me tell you! LOL! He stayed the whole 25 minute trip. I know I smell sweet, but good grief!
  • Taylor's car kept making a horrible noise and finally the power steering went out. All is fine now...after $450 in repairs. Ugh.
  • Our huge burning bush is beginning to turn red. It's centered right outside the window in front of my computer. I enjoy it every autumn!
  • I went on a little road trip with my sister and her family. We had such a good time! I haven't laughed that hard since...well, since the last time I was with her! ha!
  • Taylor saw a mouse in his room yesterday. Every year when the weather turns cold we get one! Ick! I'm not scared of them, but hate the unsanitary havoc they cause in the pantry and kitchen. I'm adding traps to my shopping list!
  • I just realized my driver's license expired on my birthday last week. Hmmm...I hope there's a grace period! I sure wouldn't want to try to take that written exam again after all these years! And can I at least wish for a good hair day when I go for that picture? ha!

Yes, you have to take the good with the bad! LOL!

We'll just keep taking it one day at a time. :)

  1. Ah your tree sounds lovely. That would make a pretty post when it's ready in all it's splendor!

Car repairs - ugh! Always something isn't it.

  2. I imagine you have already found out the answer to the question about your license. My state allows a grace period until the end of the birthday month. I was in worse shape. Several years ago, my husband and I went to Maui to celebrate our anniversary, and while we were there my license expired. I had not given it a thought. When I went to get on the plane back, I was initially denied passage because I needed current identification. (Gee, we had not planned on MOVING to Hawaii!) Eventually, a supervisor let me through, accepting my commonsense argument that I had to get home in order to get a current ID. Staying in Hawaii was not going to help anything!

  3. I like your post about "deeds" and "misdeeds"!

Fortunately we didn't have many wasps and bees in England this year. The weather was so bad, but we are having a proper Autumn (Fall?), sunny days with a slight chill in the air, no doubt heralding a bloody cold winter!

  4. No, the days don't always go well - and that is the difference between dreams and reality. But, yes, we somehow keep positive - and that is the difference between fortune and failure.

  5. What a week! I wouldn't have stayed in the car with that bee! Hope the week ahead runs smoothly for you! xa

  7. Elizabeth ~ I guess it wouldn't have been ALL bad if they made you live in Hawaii forever! LOL! I think there is a 30 day grace period....I'll find out today when I go!

  9. I stopped by via the blog "A Home With A Smile'. The title of your blog caught my eye - I have four sons and a husband - my "five guys" ;-}
My sons are now all in their 20's, but getting them there was not easy!!! We dealt with A.D.D., A.D.H.D., O.D.D., boarderline autisim, dyslexic, speech therapy, besides being a "frequent visitor" at the E.R..

Here's a note of encouragement for your day today - o/~

speaking of that - if you can figure out where abouts the mice are getting in at - fill any small cracks/holes with steel wool. They won't chew through it due to how it scrapes up the insides of their mouth.

And as for Bee's - or any flying insect for that matter - spray them with any type of an airosol spray. The airosol coates their wings thus making them to heavy for flight. This is not a permanent fix - just long enough for you to either scoop them up with something and take them outside, or kill them - your choice.

If you live in MI, they now have "penalty fees" for being late :-(

  13. It's so nice that you and your sister have such a solid relationship.
I couldn't drive with a bee in the car. I get out, open all the windows and the hatch and wait until it leaves (however long it takes).

  15. THAT ALEX! He know when you walked in his number was UP!

Good with the bad is certainly the case. I do hope you get more good than bad!

I would offer you one of The Glen cats for the weekend but I do not think Nugget would be happy about it.

  16. Quite a week!- hope your weekend is more relaxing :)

  17. Jill ~ every time we get a mouse I think I'm missing my cats! I told Nugget he needs to get a little more ferocious! I bought my traps today, so Look Out mouse! ;)

  18. And ~ there is only a 7 day grace period for your license now in Ohio. I missed it by 1 day and had to pay a $20 fine. I gladly paid it...I was happy not to have to take the test again! The lady said it used to be 30 days. Oh well...at least I can keep driving!

  19. Burning bush is a really pretty one, we have a few and I always look forward to the brilliant red color.

Oh my gosh, I would have had to get out of the car and find that bee. I can't drive if there's a bee or spider in the car!

  21. Nanny ~ oh, you know...it really wasn't a bad week. If I'm still in a good mood and laughing at the little mishaps, it's a good week! The good almost always outweighs the bad! I just like you all to laugh with me at the crazy stuff!

  22. Otin ~ I'm not even going to ask how you know that! Sorry to have to delete your comment. I didn't want the sweet little old ladies to faint. ;)

  24. I bet you're glad this week is over. Sounds like mine last week. Besides falling down the steps and bruising my bum my crown also fell out. I'm going to have to get an implant. I looked really cute for the day it took me to get the tooth glued back in until the surgery. It was the tooth next to my front teeth. I just had to laugh.

  25. God bless you, Betsy! :) And I swear there's some kind of hidden law that requires all DL photos to be horrible. I really do believe this!

  26. They put seven of those burning bushes around our utility boxes when they did our landscaping a few weeks ago. Of course they are nearly as big as they will be at some point, and we will have to keep them reasonable so utility people can get to the boxes if need be.

  27. Oh, Betsy! I hope this week is better all around. :)

  28. I love when you share what a normal day or days can be like. I remember once a bee flying in the car window and landing in my lap. I had a button down skirt on and was sweating bullets that he was going to fall down inside. I think Natalie is right, they want the driver's license pic to be awful so when you get caught and you're unhappy, you'll look like your picture :)

  29. Perhaps you can consdier Taylor, being an adult, can start to pay for his own repairs now if you gave him a pass this time around.

Mice--yuk--me too. I don;t mind them themselves but its the thought of the disease and droppings i don't want.

Bees---nooooo don't like them either and they don;t like me.

A tantrum call would be very stressful and I can only imagine that look on his face once you go there. ! Hmmm.

Keep it real when able. They really are such colourful vignettes.

And lastly, road trips with the right peeps can be soo fun.
