Master Closet Reveal Before and After

Last week we had our master bedroom closet
redone with California Closets. I wanted to show
you the before and after!  We're really happy with
how it turned out!  Here's what we had before....
a long L shaped closet with sliding doors.

Before they came we took everything out, removed
the old racks, filled the holes and gave the
walls a fresh coat of paint.

It took the installer about three hours to
make it look like this.  Of course, this is after
a consultant comes for a visit and plans out
what you need with how much you want
to spend and all that kind of stuff.

Have to say, we were happy that we cleaned out
what we didn't need, didn't wear and what didn't fit
a month earlier.  Now the only things in there are
the current style, things that fit and things that
we wear.  Nothing is crammed in, hard to find
or lost in a pile of old things we don't wear anymore.

I think my favorite part is my shoes!
My shoes have never been so organized! haha.
The consultant had suggested I line my boots up
on the floor in the corner of the L, but I
love the fact that nothing is on the floor and
moved all my boots to the coat closet.

We liked the open look so much and how it made
it feel more like a dressing area attached to the
bathroom to the right, that we decided not
to put the sliding doors back on.
It's also great incentive to keep
it nice and tidy.  So far so good!

As I'm typing this, our contractors are
installing the new flooring in our living room.
Bathroom demo starts next week some time!
Smells like sawdust.
And yes, everything is covered in it.
Fun, fun!

    1. We had a lot of wasted space, too. And a lot of stuff thrown on the floor. I think vacuuming the
floor without picking anything up is my favorite part!

    1. Good thing we have that skylight because there aren't any lights in the closet. Isn't that weird? No closet lights. Nobody to blame but us since we built the house. lol.

    2. We don't have any lights in our teeny closet either. We put in one of those "push on" lights, it actually does help!

    1. Thanks, Laurie! I come from a long line of hoarders and I've been narrowing my belongings for years now, so this looks minimal to me! haha. We were at a Christmas party last month and someone said they had 48 pairs of shoes and thought that was so few for a woman. I have less than half that so I guess I'm doing alright. lol. Now for the rest of the house...hahaha...

  5. That looks wonderful. I love the idea of getting rid of the doors once it is all so well done. I bet the kitties are finding good hiding places in there. It must be exciting there with all the fun stuff happening. Taria

    1. Surprisingly enough the kitties haven't been in there! I think they preferred it dark and with doors. haha. Yes, it is exciting...well, the dust and noise isn't but the transformation part is wonderful! haha.

  8. Sawdust everywhere would sure rile up my ocd
But that is now nice and tidy as can be
Being up off the floor is a win
Unless some kitties decide to move in
    Then things may go kerplunk
    Or just clunk

    1. Have to live with the sawdust mess for a couple of months yet
but it will be worth it in the long run I bet.
The carpet in the living room is now gone
Which makes me sing a happy song. lol.

  11. It looks just wonderful... Love your shoes, but this old gal can't wear the "high" heels anymore. Pretty much stick to wedges and boots. LOVE boots.

The shelves and baskets are wonderful. Yeah....I'm loving your new look.

We are in the negative digits with snow on the ground. But with blue sky
and sun it sure is beautiful!

It does look fresh and clean. When the bathroom renos are done we can say that we
have replaced the floors in the entire house in the last 4 months! Nice and fresh!

Love your shoes but those "high" heels would never work for gimpy me...sure wish they did. I can't wait to see the next installment of renos..

A definite improvement but I think I would have put the doors back on . . . but see what you mean too about the open look.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the reno . . .
