My Violet Patch

Their sweet blooms can make even this
winter-loving girl appreciate spring!
Now if it would just get warm enough to
open up the windows!

  1. Lovely pictures as usual. You missed your vocation in life, you should have been a professional photographer.

    2. Don't you have window screens?

    3. No, I have never seen anything like that here. We just let the insects come in and make a meal of us.Ha!

    4. Mosquitoes love me. I couldn't stand that!

    5. Keith, it sounds like a fantastic BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY for you over there!! We couldn't survive here in the southern US without window screens.... and you certainly can't have a "country house" without a screen door!

    6. Hi Don. Several firms have tried in the past to sell window and door screens, but failed miserably. 95% of time here it is too cold for insects, so it's a waste of money buying them just for 5% of the year when it's sunny!

    1. I know you think it's a crime,
with all of of that white, cold slime.
You'd like it better if you made a snow man fellow.
      Just don't forget...don't eat snow that's yellow!

  5. Such pretty delicate blooms and leaves. Today felt like winter in So. CA. Overcast and very chilly. Don wanted something hot so made a casserole. Looks like we may have rain tomorrow.

  11. Many years ago, I would dry violets and violas between the pages of a thick phone book and then glue them to pretty gift packages or notecards. Hope you get warmer temps soon.

  13. Lovely violets and they are edible, they look so pretty in salads or as dessert garnishes.. Nothing like that blooming in my yard. I am keeping my eye on my rhubarb though. Another week of warm weather and I will be churning out wonderful rhubarb desserts:)

  14. Such pretty flowers. When is your pollen season? I want to open our windows so badly, but need to wait another week or so until all pollen is gone. I've spent two days weeding my flower beds at the lake and I'm still sniffling and coughing from my recent creepy crud episode. Hope I didn't make it worse. Hope you get to open your windows soon.

    1. Oh, we haven't even started pollen season yet! But soon....May/June usually. Trees are just starting to bloom but we're dropping into the 20's at night! Brr. The allergies haven't been too bad yet....so much to look forward to! ha.
