Jack Brought Me A Present

For me?  Oh, Jack!  You shouldn't have!
No, really!  haha.  Actually, you're a good boy, Jack.
I'd rather you catch the mice outside so they don't
find their way into the house!
Good boy...yes, take it back out in the yard!

Ew...yes, I suppose if you're a cat it's fun to play with it
after you've killed it.  Oh, yeah, and eat it, too.  Yum.

My now, don't you look proud! ha.

  3. Although I have to say I feel for little mousie too... don't like seeing things hurt! But Jack is doing what kitties do.

    1. They are cute, that is for sure. But horrible if they nest in your kitchen!

  4. Your sequence of pictures is such a cute visual story.

HaHa You can only fee sorry for the mice if you haven't had your home infested. After we had to give away our cats because of the grandchildren's allergies up North....yikes then I realized how my mice catchers had been on the job. Had to put brillo pads in the little holes behind the washer dryer..that old parsonage had a dirt basement, and wonderful home for mice and the entrance I wasn't aware of until the cats were gone.

    1. We did have mice invade occasionally as I was growing up, Wanda... still felt sorry for them though! I am a sap.

    2. The same thing happened to us! Years ago when our first two cats died we had terrible mice problems! Those kitties do earn their keep! haha.

    3. Suzanne...I'm a sap, too...I'd tell the mice I was sorry when I disposed of the traps. ha.

    4. Suzanne ~ I'm sorry I didn't mean to criticize ~~ One little mouse, yes, I feel sorry....2 little mice...I feel sorry....mice running under my feet and up my nightgown...NO sorry. HaHaHaHa That's what I meant by "infested".....

      Delete
    5. Infested..yes, I know what you mean. We had two families...one in the kitchen and one in the back pantry. Nests, babies...lots of droppings and chewing into packages of food. I think there were 10 altogether. You can't have your little sons trying to eat crackers that mice have been in! Yuck!

      Up your nightgown? Oh my.

    6. I tried "Decon" bad decision...then they came into the house, bloated up and died. After that traps...better to empty a trap than take a bloated dead mouse out. Betsy...Tell Jack he really started something HaHa.. I can't stop talking about them. Guess those memories were buried deep. The good news. No mice here, and we don't have a cat, but the neighbors do, so maybe they are taking care of any around here.

      Delete
    7. Ew! Yeah, I couldn't use Decon either,...was afraid Nugget would get into it. Same with traps. I'm sure your neighbor's cat is helping surrounding houses. Our neighbors are probably benefiting, too. haha.

  5. Nice - we've received a few of those "gifts" too!

  6. I don't think you understand your cat!
He brought the mouse to you to ask you to cook it.
He is fed up with eating raw mice!
    LOL
    Did your evening go well?

    1. Oh dear. I have been known to spoil my pets but cooking the rodents is one line I will not cross! hahahahaha....

The evening went very well, yes. Always fun to have the big kids over!

  7. What? After the gift to your cave
You couldn't even stick it in the microwave?
He went to all that work and play
It got cold by the end of the day
    He wanted it warmed up
Maybe float it in a fancy cup
    Hmmm would it sink?
At least he kept it from getting inside your rink

    1. I'm sure it would have sunk
and gave my microwave a smelly funk.
Was so nice of him to try to share.
Why I didn't take a bite he is not aware.
      lol...

    2. He wanted to feed you for a change
And is surprised you find it so strange
He wants to pay you back for all his meals
And wants you to eat it after all its squeals
And once he makes sure its completely dead
He wants you to start with its head!
      LOL

You two do bring out the best in me!! LOL

    3. Some things I will not do
and one is to give a mouse a chew.
Even if it's presented as a gift,
Praise I will give but to my mouth I'll not lift.

      Delete
    4. Well why bother to let your cat defeat it
If you adamantly will not agree to eat it!!

      Delete
    5. So that mouse won't get into the pantry
and make packages of biccies unsanitary!

      Delete
    6. Yeh They are dreadful creatures in the house and with all those cats they stand no chance.
I think the whole rodent family is awful
Mice, Rats, Possums and Squirrels (well the grey ones)

  8. Did you know that cats are born with an instinct to hunt, but they learn to kill and eat their prey from their mothers?

    1. Yes! I watched both Tipper and Velvet giving lessons. It was fascinating! Tipper climbed a tree once and brought an egg down from a nest and her little kittens were at the base of the tree just taking in the whole thing. And have you watched them play and practice on each other...pinning each other down and biting their necks?

      Delete
    2. All our cats do is practice. They've never been outside.

    3. No mice have ever come in? Our first two cats caught mice inside.

  9. Hate when they do that. Nothing worse than hearing them crunch those little bones between their teeth.

    1. Ew! I've never been close enough to hear that!

    2. Marmalade swallows them whole! I watched in amazement once! Good grief! A bird once, too! Feathers, legs...the whole thing. Ugh. But no crunching! lol....

      Delete
    3. Crunching is the worst, but I'm not much on the torture beforehand either.

      Delete
    4. I think they break their necks and it's over with fairly quickly.

    5. A peanut butter laden trap is kinder. It's over in an instant.

    6. So true! But I was always afraid my kitties would get a paw or nose in one!

  10. Haha He is making his work:)
You know some dogs make this too
Mouska (my female dog) times ago she bring me a mouse yikes!
    And she was really proud!
Ah jack is really sweet and he loves you so much:)

    1. I didn't know dogs did that...bring you a mouse and act proud about it! I thought only cats did that!

  11. Mouska is a mix with Akita and they are hunters..

    1. I see. I thought dogs would just eat it and not show it as a prize! haha.

    2. Only mouska make that Im sure Ares don't now a mouse lol

    3. haha...oh, that's funny. And Ares doesn't bother the bunnies?

  13. Oh Jack! What a mighty hunter you are!
I've had lots of 'presents' from my fur-boys, too . . . I don't mind the mice, too much, but the birds really make me sad. And twice I've been brought a dragonfly of all things. When they were kittens they even brought home whole-grown squirrels- bigger than them! I'm kinda glad they're getting lazier as they get older. I can never get used to opening the front door and finding corpses . . . (though I am grateful I have boys that don't mind dealing with them for me) ;)

    1. I don't like it when they get a bird, either. I've been known to knock on a window to scare a bird away to save it from a lurking hunter. haha.

  14. Oh I want a Jack here. Not because he catches mice because he is cute.

I just love looking at him and thinking back to our black and white .. mind you I don't think he caught anything . he knew which side his bread was buttered! His mother did - she was pure black ..

    Lovely photos .. cheers Hilary
