I've always liked Mark Twain and now I like him even more!
Me, too! I'd never heard that quote before! And I love the photo!
Love the photo and quote. I read that Mark Twain had several cats. The quote reminds me of one I read a long time ago. I don't remember who said it or the exact wording, but went something like this. "If a person doesn't like cats, they must have been a rat in a former life". : )
Yes, I think he had several! There were other photos...many to choose from!haha...love that quote...how funny!
Awww works for the catGreat idea at your matSee you were reasearching awayTelling me the fact about Freeman yesterday
I stumbled upon quite a lotand had a great thoughtto do a little seriesthat could last a century!I have enough to do one a weekthat will surely pass 2013!haha.
Damn that is grandNow you too can be far ahead at your land haha
I know! I felt like you!But will keep it once a week to view.I suppose I could add you to the listnow that you're the published author in our midst!
Betsy I love Mark Twain and really enjoyed this picture!!!
Isn't that such a cute picture? Makes me smile!
yes and the cat is really cute like yours!
ha...i love cats...ours is sleeping with us now that his sister is passed...cute pic of him and his cat...
Out of all of ours there are several that sleep in the house each night. But our new little Shadow (the last litter) has discovered our bed and waits for us there, as he's become used to the evening routine and knows when we're getting ready to head back to bed. So cute. :) There's something very homey about a cat on your bed.
My son, Josiah, is a cat person. He loves cats and they love him too. He also likes to write. I like cats better than dogs and think perhaps I shall always keep a cat or two around.
Out of all my zoo creatures, I've never had the desire for a dog!Not that I have anything against them, just never wanted one of my own.I didn't realize how much I missed a cat until we went without one for a few years. Then they all started adopting me. lol.
Always love Mark Twain but didn't have a clue he was a cat lover, as I don't ever remember reading that quote of his. However, somewhere in my archives of pictures, I have one of me sitting next to a wonderful bronze statue of him on a park bench at a Holiday Inn Express in Modesto, CA.
Would love to see that photo if you come across it some day!I compiled a little list for this series and many of the people I was surprised to find! I think it will be fun to share them!
BTW your comment on the Cauliflower/Ham pot pie sounds wonderful, and I will surely try that. What a nice contrast from a turkey or beef pot pie.
Oh I hope you try it...I thought it was wonderful..a nice blend of flavors and a fresh take on the good ol' pot pie!
He would adore you, Betsy!! ;) blessings ~ tanna
haha..well, that was sweet! Wouldn't he be fun to meet? I'm sure he'd love my zoo!
I agree with Mak Twain's lovely words,Someone who loves cats can't be bad...;-)Pierre
It's so true! haha. Thanks for visiting!
If I can't find the picture of me and Mark (haha) we are going to a wedding in that town in Sept. If he's still on that bench... I'll get a new picture!!
haha...ok...sounds like a plan!
I loved the picture of Twain and his kitty. How nice to know that he was a cat person!
It was a surprise to me, too! How sweet!
I have always been surrounded by cats...Growing up...Always had cats...When we first married, we took in a stray...named him Theodore...AKA Ted!!!Not such a good move...he infested our tiny house with Fleas!!!!Then we took in another stray...Big black shiny cat...named him Spooky...he must have been like the wandering guy...as he only stayed for 3 years...and then disappeared...Spooky,eh??!!Then came Taffy...had her for 22 years..She was joined by Kramer when she was 5...Never cozied up to himWhen she left us, Kramer only lasted 6 months...he was 17...I think he died form a broken heart..AS you know, between my 3 kids...they have 7 cats...must be in our blood!!!But...I must say...I DO NOT miss the fur!!!!No more pets for us....maybe...tee hee hee...Enjoy your day...nice and sunny...but cold...Cheers!Linda :o)
We had a black cat named Theodore, too! We called him Teddy. :) He was the best cat. ha....lived 16 years...not nearly long enough.22 is long! wow...good for Taffy. :)I suppose 7 grandcats is plenty! haha.
I love Mark Twain. We are a six hours drive from his home in Hartford, CT and I'd so like to see it. We always pass through enroute to NYC or headed south and have yet to stop and see. I should make a point of that this year.
That sounds like a really fun trip! I hope you make it this year!
Betsy I put a birds picture right now if you can see, look carefully they are so close in the nest, anyway are three, are so big:))
OK! I'll come take a look! :)
Oh my! hahaha...they are so big! They have outgrown their little nest! How sweet! I love their feathers and pretty eyes!
Hey, how did Marmalade get in that next picture? haha.
Yes I think is Marmalade in my kitchen.. how happens this???I love this because is similar to my kitchen sometimes! and there was marmalade ,aha,I taked from Pinterest:)))You know the birds know me, when I go only look at me, what she want now????They love sleep!
I'm sure they do know you! So sweet...I don't think we have that kind of bird up here!
I give them water but I used a syringe to give a few drops, I think they dont want so to bother them I put some drops in the face and threw them shook and look me! was funny, they only wanted sleep they look absolutely comfortable in their nest!We called Zorzales!
I've never had a cat.....please don't hold it against me/lol
hahaha....that's ok. I think I have your share over here! lol....
You gotta love a "Twainism" every now and then! Many thanks.Greetings from London.
and thanks for visiting again! :)
People who love animals and animals who love people. That's amore :)
I do so love Mark Twain.
It was a fun surprise to see he had cats for pets! :)
I wonder how he felt about women who loved cats. I love dogs and cats, but have noted that some people who love either or both of them are downright weird and disagreeable, so either Twain liked people better than I do, or he was in an upbeat mood when he wrote that.
haha...well, I see your point. If I find out the answer, I'll add an update to this post. I don't have anything against dogs, just haven't ever wanted one of my own!
Two years ago, I got my first cat in decades (having always had dogs). I enjoy him, but the best thing I can say about cats is that they require so little work compared to dogs.
Here's another Twain quote about cats: “The cat, having sat upon a hot stove lid, will not sit upon a hot stove lid again. But he won't sit upon a cold stove lid, either.”
Yes, I do agree that cats are less work. I like their independence, yet they are entertaining and affectionate. I had two cats that lived nice long lives, then we took a break up until a year ago when I befriended a stray mother cat. She brought her litter to our back porch and the rest is history. :) Now the word is out that I'll care for a stray, so they keep coming. haha.
I'm serving coffee! Stay and chat! And no awards, please! Your comments are my awards!
