Cranberry Sauce and Turkey Leftovers

I know there are a bunch of ways to enjoy leftovers after Thanksgiving!
We usually just heat up a plate of food that looks like a repeat of the
original dinner!  But when it comes time for something light, like a
sandwich, we tried this. ... Turkey, Jarlsberg Cheese Dip,
and Cranberry Sauce on wheat bread.  Yum.

The cranberries were also good with the jarlsberg dip and crackers!
Such a pretty looking snack and very tasty!
It would make a great holiday appetizer or hor dourves!

I got the cranberry sauce recipe from Susan Branch.  Yes, the
Susan Branch.  Do you visit her blog?  You really should.
She and I are kindred spirits, I'm telling you.  Today she posted about
hanging bird feeders outside her kitchen windows.  She has a cat
named Jack that is very much like ours of the same name, in fact
that is where I got the idea to name ours!
Anyway, her recipe is so simple and wonderful.
I will be making it again!

Cranberry Sauce

1 package of fresh whole cranberries.
1 c sugar

Spread berries in a greased 9x13 pan.
Pour sugar over them.  Do not stir.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, stirring part way
through to make sure sugar is dissolved.

That's it!  Serve room temp.

    3. Ok...so you aren't as much of a baby as I thought :) She's an artist...writes cookbooks...and she sells a lot of things on her website with her art on them. I get her calendar every year.

    4. Now that you mention calendars I think I have seen them. I just didn't connect it. Yeah I'm a baby. I can just hear Silver saying it. :)

    5. Well, he's ancient. Everybody's a baby to him! haha.

    8. SOOOO much trouble! Oh dear. I'm hiding behind you! hahaha. I think he got a haircut yesterday, and if he got his beard trimmed, too, maybe he doesn't look like Moses. lol.... (ok, now I'm not only hiding behind you, I'm ducking, too!) :)

    9. Awww Gloria you aren't old. My Grandma used to say "you are only as old as you feel" which would make me pretty old too some days. :)

Betsy I don't hold still very much so you should maybe find something or someone else to hide behind. :) It might be like hiding behind a bus. :)

Silver take note of the fact that I didn't say you LOOKED like Moses.

    10. I feel old today! ha. A bus that doesn't hold still very much? lol.... You are so silly.

Your soup looked delish, btw. :)

    11. The bus thing was from Adventures in Odyssey--a radio drama that I grew up listening to. There is a rather absentminded Private Eye who once took cover behind a bus, and then had to run several miles to keep from breaking his cover......did you ever listen to Adventures in Odyssey?

    12. The word's not "old," it's "ancient," as Betsy said above. And yes, to me, you're all babies. Or babes. Ha. And thanks for defending me, Gloria!

    2. It's kind of amazing, isn't it? God's provision for sure...we have 0 debt for his tuition and have been so blessed that we've been able to do it...this year feels the hardest, though...the savings account is looking kinda skimpy! hahaha. I was thinking the other day that without autism, we would have the triplets as freshman in collage next year. That would have been a little scary. haha.

    3. Say what? Never had cranberry sauce? :)

When I was a girl, it was popular to have that jellied kind straight from the can. Yuck. My mother-in-law always had that on the Thanksgiving table, too. My side of the family always made a jello salad with grated cranberries and apples in it. I love it just as much for sentimental reasons than the taste, which is really good.

Must be a family line kind of thing. If you didn't grow up with it, it's not tradition!

The Mister and I are the only ones that eat it, here. :)

    4. If I remember correctly my Mom sometimes in later years before I was married made some kind of cranberry sauce with oranges in it but I never really got into it. I should try it sometime though.

Yes, God's provision for sure! It's a wonderful thing to be able to give to our children!
