What I Did Wednesday #27

  1. Cleaned the bathrooms.  Some day I'm going to get rid of that 1980's pink! ha.
  2. Scrubbed the kitchen and bathroom floors.
  3. Finished up the cookies.  Now have 26 dozen heart shaped wedding favors in the freezer.  Whew!
  4. Enjoyed a rose bud opening!
  5. Charcoal has finally, after 9 months, decided that he would like to be petted.  He comes in a flops down at my feet when he's ready. lol.  I'd say he's no longer feral. :)
  6. Enjoyed a pot of coffee.
  7. Gathered up all the trash.  Ended up with 4 large bags.  Geesh!  Are we the only ones that do that?  I guess that's better than keeping it around. ha.
  8. Welcomed the boys home from school.  Thanked Alex for lining up the shoes.  Not sure why they have to be in the hallway, but they do!  If I move them to their closet, he moves them back! ha.
  9. Noticed the strawberries are ripening!
  10. Sad news...the cardinal's nest has been abandoned.  Only one egg remains.  The rosebush hasn't been disturbed at all, so I don't think it was a cat or other animal.  I'm thinking a snake!  We do have them and I saw one last spring right in that spot as he slithered right by me.  Yikes.  I still hear Mr. Cardinal singing in the yard, so maybe they are just going to try again.
  11. Vacuumed.
  12. Started a new bag of things to donate to the thrift store.

Did you have a nice day?

♥

    1. Lots once more at your shore
And yeah pink is a bit hardcore
But I guess it does the trick
      Making the bathroom so slick
      Blame the snake for it
And not the cats one bit
Now you must care for the egg on your own
Adding another animal to your thrown
      Might create quite the rift
And send some kitties to the thrift
      And lined up shoes
Surely doesn't give my ocd the blues

      Not sitting on that egg
no matter how much you beg.

at least the shoes are nice and neat
I'll take it over messy any day of the week!

The pink really has to go
      hopefully before I'm too old.

  3. Wow, an entire day in photos. Sad to say you probably did more today than I've done all week lol Too bad about the Cardinal moving, but I guess it's a good thing if there are pet snakes around :) I can't stand snakes, they really freak me out. i had a buddy in college that had this 7 foot snake, I can't remember what it was python or boa but it was big and white and it wrapped itself around your arm, scared the heck out of me when he put that on my unknowingly. Gives me the shivers just thinking about that. That's funny you mention that, I've never really thought about it either, but we've always lined up our shoes in the hallway, it's always been like that.

    1. No, no Fred..the snakes are not pets! lol. But I guess they are a part of the zoo, nonetheless, You know, snakes don't bother me at all! It's spiders I can't stand. Well, centipedes are the worst. Eew...now those will give me shivers!

Shoes in the hallway, huh. OK...I'm blaming your family. Somehow that idea blew down here to Ohio! lol....

    2. well a strong wind probably could do the trick, it's really not all that far, especially for the wind lol Funny you mention spiders, my mother just got bit by one yesterday afternoon, she's fine, got some cream and it's almost healed already, but just found it ironic in a way.

  4. Had a great day, Betsy...stayed in and did some housework...dusting mostly...moving things around..
getting ready for the long weekend...hopefully 4 days at the lake...yahooo..
love your photos...sad about the cardinal...I have a red squirrel, who we call "red"...well guess who ripped thru my bathroom screen...AND WAS IN MY BATHROOM!!!! I was freaking...I closed the door....thankfully he went back out the screen...anyway...the moral is...I have stopped putting out bird seed for a few days...to perhaps discourage him/her...just nyger for the fab finches...anyhoo...didn't mean to natter on for so long....I just feel kinda like I am talking to a friend...far, far away...
    Talk to you another day...

    Cheers
    Linda :o)

OK..red squirrel in the house. lol...careful now, or I'll give my Dr. Doolittle title to you!
hahahaha. Oh, that is too funny! Haven't seen a squirrel here since the cats adopted me but they used to scarf down all the seed. So frustrating!

  5. What a busy Wednesday. I too love your pictures and can just picture each item on your To Do List.

Our Squirrel "Gordo" only eats the sunflower seeds in the mix, and then the birds come and feast. He's an early morning riser, as soon as I put out the seed.

Today dropped my car off for it's service which is near my daughter...so we spent the day together. Talk, Talk, Talk....love it!!!
She would be happy if her boys lined up their shoes anywhere!! HaHa

  7. The weather was perfect so even though I was busy I gave myself some time off to sit on the patio swing to just be quiet and listen to the birds sing and enjoy the last half hour before going to get the kids from school. Kind of the calm before the imstarvingwhatstheretoeat storm. ha

Bet you're relieved the cookies are done. :) Too sad about the Cardinal family! but I'm loving that beautiful rose!

  19. I love these Wednesday posts, Betsy! So sad about the cardinal nest but I guess that's Mother Nature's way. And how sweet of Charcoal to flop over to be petted. My 2 cats do that several times a day and it always melts my heart!

  20. Hi Betsy .. I agree very sad about the Cardinal nest - but let's hope there's time for another. Everyone has to live - even snakes .. great photos and notes about jobs done, in process of being done .. the wedding favours look like they'll be good ... 300 to decorate. The kids - and their decisions .. interesting lining up the shoes - at least they're tidy. Cheers Hilary

  21. I've just enjoyed catching up with you blog. I love your Creative Tuesdays and auction posts particularly.

  22. I did not read through all of your comments, but Pat's did make me think a bit of Horton who hatched that beautiful egg for the lazy Maizy Bird. I could just see you sitting on that nest while the neighbors walked by pointing and laughing. Okay, so maybe not.

    1. Um...(she says embarrassingly) it's a 12 cup pot. lol. :)

Yes, I'm sure about the nest. And sure about the snake now, since I found an egg on the ground with a little hole on the side and the contents sucked out. A cat would have broken open the whole egg...this was a snake for sure. :(
